I just have a question regarding the car/driving in Switzerland. What did you guys do with the car every time you guys went somewhere not car friendly? For example, when you went to Zermatt? Or how about when you went to Lucerne? I’m told that parking in Europe is an expensive mess, which is why I’m leaning towards just traveling by train, but a road trip in a beautiful place like Switzerland does look very free. Any advice would be appreciated!
@theslowtraveler2047

In both cases there was a parking station where you can just pay a fee for parking. Not cheap of course, but not outrageous (at least compared to my home city)... Street parking was also possible in a number of cities for shorter periods.

The only section I wouldn't recommend (but it is possible) is the stretch of road that you would drive if you don't take the ferry between Snaefellsnes Peninsula and Westfjords. Its slow going and very isolated... Almost everywhere else was fine.

Hi. I recently went for a holiday and rented a car in Dalaman, turkey. The company is called right cars. The rental car company turned out to be an absolute scam. They did not follow conditions written in the rental confirmation email. Instead of blocking the deposit they charged the actual credit card. Secondly, they charged a higher deposit of 900 Eur instead of Eur 650 written in contract. Thirdly, they charged in turkish lira using an exchange rate of their choice. It was 11pm at night and i had no option so I went along. Now I read their reviews online that they will do everything to avoid giving the deposit back. What are my options?
@theslowtraveler2047

Probably just doing a charge back on your credit card…. I had a similar experience with a hot air balloon operator being sluggish with refunding after claiming to be sold out. Took a while but the bank sorted it out via the CC

The skywalk and surrounding viewpoints are nice and not that crowded. The middle of town is only worthwhile if you would like to walk along the waterfall walk, which will only take 30 min. I wouldn't stay there overnight again and just stay nearby for half the cost.... The kayaking is amazing though if you have the time to spare and the energy :-)

Great tips. We are going from Rome to Sorrento by train, staying in Sorrento for a few days, and travelling back to Rome by train. I thought we'd stop at Pompeii on either of those train trips. Realistically, can you travel from Rome to Sorrento or vice versa with a stop at Pompeii and get enough time there? If you pre purchase a regular entry ticket, not a skip the line ticket, can you skip the line and go straight to the entry? Also, if you take a guided tour, do you have to be on a certain tour at a certain time or do the run every so often and you can join any of them? Thanks.
