The reason I imagine some fans are a little reflexive about the title is because after the WS, we kept seeing some Astros fans using this term “bought a World Series” in a patronizing tone. Trying to delegitimize our title compared to theirs. Even though literally every big team in the MLB signs big free agents and has a high payroll. I believe the Astros had a higher payroll than we did last year. Anyway I hate that nonsense. It’s usually hypocritical and contradictory. I also hate when people make excuses for owners to be cheap bastards. They say a salary cap would make the league more competitive and maybe so--but mainly it just gives the owners a pass to be cheap first and foremost. Owners spending money would also make the league more competitive and the Rangers are proof of that!
