I lived in Chile for 3 years. This was my favorite wine by far. Casillero del Diablo is known as good brand there. There was also a brand called Las Mulas, that I enjoyed. This is an outstanding wine and I have tell people about it whenever I can.

Gasoline in wine sounds intriguingly unappealing, like someone offering a whiff of their sweaty socks. However, your description of these wines mitigates the unpleasantness. My first and only taste of Riesling was Spatelese, a sweet wine recommended by a German friend, and I found it light and pleasant. More importantly, I tasted no gasoline. That said, this review has me considering a different Riesling. Perhaps the Brooks offering.🤔 Now what to pair with it?
@wine-living
@wine-living Ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Riesling pairs well with soups, especially cream soups! If I had to pick one in this lineup, I'd recommend the Pauly Bergweiler for an excellent example of how those flavors are balanced and can work together. Be sure to let me know what you find!

You need to do a lot more research about wines then... there is very reliable evidence that wine making started in Shiraz, Iran in at least 2500BC. Unfortunately, content creators like yourself tend to find it easier to gain followers/subscribers by just making things up that no one has heard before. Shiraz wine existed thousands of years before Australia was even discovered LOL Your explanation is misleading because you say Syrah and Shiraz are the same wine because Australians pronounced the anglicized Schiraz, meant to refer to Syrah, Shiraz. The Anglo-Saxon Schiraz is the Persian Shiraz, and the reason Shiraz and Syrah are now interchangeable is because the French started growing the same Shiraz grapes which, not having been grown in the south west Iran climate, turned out to be extremely similar to Syrah grapes. As such, nowadays, the two wines are almost identical.

I have yet to come across a gasoline smell, but have on a few occasions smelled bandaids with some wines. It definitely wasn’t from a dirty glass. Have you ever smelled that in a wine?
@wine-living
@wine-living Ай бұрын
Yes, that antiseptic/iodine smell is common in older reds, and some fortified wines too, like Sherry. It's a very similar smell to leather, which is common in aged reds. Funny story, when I was studying through the WSET in London, the British refer to Bandaids as "Sticking Plasters," which is something that stayed with me to this day.

Hey friends! Interesting topic for this one. If you're a savvy Riesling drinker you know about this already, and if you've never experienced it before, I know you'll be running out to buy a Riesling now. What are your thoughts on the subject of TDN and petrol/gas in the wine? Share here. Thanks!

I love Merlot; I don’t care for Cabernet. I love the soft, fruit flavors of Merlot; I don’t care for the tannins of Cabernet. Crossing the Merlot with a Cab to get the Carmenere works, but I still prefer a straight Merlot. To me, the Carmenere often tastes like a Malbec. I’ll stick with a straight Merlot or soft Malbec. Best

Condrieu is one of my all-time favorites. Mark is correct about the price - I've paid around $100/bottle - so I buy it for celebrations, like my birthday. Makes getting older worth the anguish.

Back in the day, when I was in high school, 100 years ago, Mad Dog 20/20 was the butt of jokes. My friends and I used to joke about it. I don't think any of us ever tried it. It was as well thought of as "Ripple" from "Sandford and Son."

Try with comething like "tsrlyenaack" (stress on "e") kashtelanski". Just first letter was pretty wrong- the rest of pronouncing is pretty decent. Kudos on your research. Hope you come to Croatia and taste more. You can't even fathom how much there is to discover.

Re: Vinho Verde, does the fizz come from the minerality of the water or is it given a special treatment?
@wine-living
@wine-living 2 ай бұрын
It's a byproduct of the fermentation process. They put the wine in the bottle before it's finished fermenting and the carbon dioxide creates bubbles. Much like in Champaign, only not as intense!

you also swirl the glass to read the legs, the more legs the wine has, the higher the alcohol content is....
