There is a place called just kampers that also sells these panels but they are also in Europe.

Thanks. I checked their site but they did not carry this piece of metal section I missing for the engine bay.

Love seeing you do metal work like on Frankie. I’ve seen some metal panels for engine conversions on the ‘72 - on buses to the old Type I’s.

Play list is a good idea, (did) are you going to 'pre-set' the heater channel on the frame and then tack it in?
@SeanThompsonDCАй бұрын
AH I am in the same process right now, not as much rust luckiy but it was great to see you cut the nooks and crannies which are a real bear. Really good, thank you!

It’s always nice to fill up the carb bowl first. Also; it looks to me you are having a timing issue at the beginning of the video. Also worth it to check valve adjustment. The second motor looks great but by the location of the vacuum canister it seems the distributor is not timed correctly. Might be worth it to double check that.
@juniorclassicvwbugs924Ай бұрын
You are correct it’s always good to fill the bowl first. I did it of camera, I also check static timing and assure the distributor drive dog wasn’t off 180 degrees. I did not checked the valve gap. But now the engine is off the bus; it will easier to make any of these adjustments. Thank for the continuous support to my channel.

Fantastic. Very informative. Someone put a very old model light switch in my 72 and it doesn't turn all the way off. And the terminals are different. This is super helpful for finding the right wires for the terminals on the proper replacement switch. Thanks!

Where can you buy that screw at 6:08 minute mark. Have a 1974 VW Bug and screw missing or fell out so need to keep foot on gas pedal to not konk out. Order from Jbugs one but does not screw in and dies not have thin tip you have on yours.

I worked on renewing my 70 Type3 CV Joints this week and thank you for your insight. I like everyone to know another way to get the boots on is to wrap your axle splines with masking tape and grease it. Worked for me really good.

Taps cut, Chasers clean.

I cut grooves in bolts to make them into good thread chasers. Using a file works best but a cut off wheel works on hardened bolts. Gives debris somewhere to go.

Great perseverance, I feel your pain. I too used my trolley jack,but luckily for me I had a bigger working space. I purchased some used truck axle stands, some 8ft scaffold x2, and with that I can get it high enough and it’s also wide enough to just wheel my Super chassis in and out. Keep it going Junior 👍🏼

I had a similar issue. I used two cherry pickers or engine hoists, one in front one in the rear, to lower the body down on the frame.

Glad to see you were able make adjustments yourself. Ive had nothing but problems with the empi and bbt label 34 pict 3 clones. Checked for valves, timing, correct distributor. New plugs,wires,coil. Will idle sometimes but just sputters out under load. Fuel pressure 2/2.5 lbs and have adjusted lower with no real difference. On the fence about whats next.

1/4 turn out on the throttle-arm screw. This turning in idea is basesd on a mis-translation from the German shop manual, when the 34PICT-3 came out. But, the throttle arm screw is used to adjust the idle on the 30 pict series carbs.

A A performance products sells this stand, but the new HF engine stand has a smaller diameter tube now and this stand will be too big to fit in it. You have to find an old HB engine stand if you want this to fit in it. I just figured this out the hard way.

I’ve worked on 1303’s for many, many years, and the trouble you have is after market parts, not you. You’re fine to cut that lip off. They were spot welded sometimes from the factory and some time a seem of weld,so get your fit right and see which works for you, and I often find that either the front or back will need some work to meet the body, if indeed it does! Re the firewall, you want the bottom to fit and it looks close, ie tight, then trim and fabricate the top to fit, as they are ‘open’ and easy to manipulate. The chances are your inner wings are genuine and possibly the originals if they haven’t been changed in the last 25 years, so use them as your datum. That bit of card you’re lying on, tape it to the fire wall from trunk side then use a marker pen from inside the car to mark the card. It’ll give you an idea as to where you are. Keep it up 👍🏼
