I'm not surprised considering Dychnisour would pick not so young before him it took the fans kicking off to get Keane replaced by Branthwaite.. On another downer at least Coleman and young are getting new contracts .. Never rated Godfrey, had a few good games, but overshadowed by too many poor performances. We got Godfrey from Norwich when Maddison was available for the same money. Our recruitment team are class!

Widely reported Godfrey is on between 60-70k a week. I would be amazed if anyone is paying around 10mill for him and giving him a 4 year deal costing them another 14mill in wages. He has never looked like a prem level starter. Unless he is prepared to take a big wage cut (no chance) I cant see him going anywhere.

baz spot on about the centre back situation. seeing holgate, keane, and godfrey go in the same window will be a very interesting window. i agree with moving all three on for their sake as much as the club's finances. of the three though, we'll miss godfrey the most because he covers the entire backline and he does it well enough--if it wasn't for his last ditch save in the derby we probably go on to lose that match. and same goes for keane, he's perfectly capable and has scored vital goals for us and there's affection and appreciation there for these players. sadly, nothing lasts forever. but losing all three of holgate, keane, AND godfrey means we'll need to bring in possibly multiple full backs and multiple centre backs? it's like baz says, it'd have been great to still have conor coady in the squad to cover the loss of holgate/keane/godfrey but, as always, finances isn't it? we'll find out this summer how good thelwell is.
