The cones in the middle of the road at 2:48 Are for the instalation of traffic lights. Nowadays that would be a couple of weeks of three way traffic lights, & nobody working on it !

Just wondering. I’ve flown a Spitfire XVI, Sea Fury, Harvard . I’m a civilian pilot with lots of tail wheel time ie Cessna 185 and 180. When I strarted rebuilding the Spit. I noticed most of the War bird crashes were flown by Military pilots. Could it be they are not well trained enough and are given credit for being better than they really are when it comes to these aircraft?

As someone who was born in the year 2000 and have lived in Sherburn my whole life and have watched it slowly change over the years, this was absolutely fascinating to watch! Thank you for this. I have often wondered what it was like back in my parents days. Do you have anymore footage of Sherburn from back then?

With 8 hrs. on type he shouldn't have been doing an airshow,,, go read the crash report, it was his incompetence that bent that plane not the plane's age.

Not Lightning but Binbrook related, Best story my old man told me was he was on black top one night, as most of you know Binbrook had its own weather and was notorious for heavy snow. Anyway they had a new WO one night, he told the crew on black top which way they should be clearing the snow, Even though they told the WO they would be blowing into the wind he would have none of it. To cut a long story short, The WO ended up eating a large piece of humble pie after they had to redo the whole runway again! There is another story as well on how the MT section had the station Commander on the floor in the rain with his face in a puddle (whilst on exercice)

After such a painstaking effort to get this airframe airworthy and to restore it to such high standards one clown who was not familiar with this type turned it into a nightmare for all who had been involved in the restoration work! Shame that mediocre pilot was handling this aircraft…

Many air display pilots seem to go nuts and throw the planes around without any display training at all, I sometimes think more planes have been lost at airshows than in all the world wars combined..:)

Russia could have been a fantastic ally.. but a quarter of a century under the thumb of Putin has absolutely decimated that, I wanted to visit Russia to go to their war museums.. especially the one with the last remaining German MAUS tank.. nevermind.

One way trip to Russia during the cold war. All the fuel was used. If they were lucky enough to drop their payload at the designated target then the only outcome would be a friendly airfield within NATO - if still operational. The white Vulcans were painted to reflect a nuclear detonation flash. A beautiful example can be viewed at the Duxford Air Museum. Interesting fact - during the Falkland war the Vulcan had to mirror the onboard map to reflect a route to Canada then invert the map to Argentina. The Vulcan only had a map for Russia and her block countries.

Was this filmed at kermington airfield? If so then I think I was there that day. The feeling of the ground shaking as the Vulcan flew overhead is something I'll never forget.

Few cars, loads of walking shoppers. 2024 Fuck it, I'll jump in car drive few hundred yards, can't find a parking space, blow a brain fuse cause its taking to long, drive back home & order online or call some cunt to deliver your takeaway. And we thought our parents & grandparents lived in hard times.

Nice to see some motorway driving from that year on the M25 and then the M1, I can see that back then the blue signs were slightly different looking to the ones we've got now, and also before they changed into smart motorways, including having a bit of the M25 that is no longer concrete.
