I loved Uncle Jessie. He was a man of character and compassion. He didn't hate anyone. Not even Boss Hogg or Roscoe. He knew what the game was. And he just wanted to play fair. And as far as the General Lee goes, I am a black man that grew up knowing prejudice and racism. Nor the car or the show is ether. It's a parody on a historic time in our past. But teaches a valuable lesson about right and wrong. What really kills me is how people have a problem with this but say nothing about Hogan's Heroes. Three of the main characters that are playing Nazis, wearing swastikas and SS badges were Jewish. But i can still watch it in reruns daily...

The dukes of Hazzard never showed one once of racism or prejudices. And many times had strong messages against racism or prejudices. And very strong messages of equality, unity, desegregation, and getting along with all people despite any differences, and NOT ever judging anyone on anything else but the content of their character, not the color of their skin or anything else.

Nothing wrong with Dukes of Hazzard? Maybe. The General Lee is a car, fair enough. Named after a racist traitor, but still, just a car. But nothing wrong with the flag of a bunch of traitors that committed acts of domestic terrorism and armed rebellion in defense of their supposed right to own other human beings? Horse manure. And before anyone starts bleating out "state's rights," the specific right in question, as expressed by several of the states in question in their declarations of secession, was their supposed right to own slaves. Not my interpretation, their express declaration. So, when someone says the Civil War was about "state's rights," realize they either don't know enough to know what rights where in question (as presumably the Dukes didn't in the context of the show), or they do, and they're hoping *you* don't.

When I have kids this is how I intend to bring them up. Same way I was.

Leave the General Lee and its Confederate flag alone! All the Dukes of Hazzard ever taught was how to have some fun and respect each other no matter our differences. We are all human beings no matter the color of our skin. God loves us for who we are and we should love each other no matter what!!

I used to love this show back in the day. Clearly us in Britain didn't know anything about the Confederate flag. As you grow older you educate yourself more. Aside from the flag I don't see much racist intent.

I am mixed black and White I grew up in the 70d amd 80s. Top of my list is Dukes of Hazzard. Even now when i need to switch my brain of i watch a few episodes. Being from the UK its only as an adult i found out about the Stars and bars. Apart from that. I cant remember ever seeing any racism on the show

This show helped reinforce good morals for me as a kid. There was a love and respect for people that they didn't agree with. Wow,what a concept. I love the scene where Roscoe thinks the Dukes are dead from the jumping the General into the water.
