my school took us to see the show as a class trip, and i was so upset about it beforehand because i thought it would suck. actually watching the show was LIFE CHANGING and i was blown away, i could not stop singing its praises afterwards. one of my all time favourite musicals. a magical experience to see live

Now that you point out which artist wrote which song, you can clearly hear the familiarities each artist is known for. Which makes it more impressive when they're not only able to adapt each song to the cartoon's tone and feel cohesive with each other, but make all the songs feel like they were made for the spongebob cartoon.

I love this musical, in fact I just performed in it! However I personally feel like the Broadway cast recording doesn't do the songs justice at all- it somehow makes the song and cast sound kinda bad-? Anyway I prefer the Live on Stage version of SpongeBob the musical which is the same cast but I feel like the songs flow better! You should check it out!

Did this musical at my show and dude it was a FEAT man. That music has so many moving parts, a ton of set pieces and props, so many costumes you have to change in and out of like that, but it was so fun and I have yet to meet a person that didn't like the production me and the students put on (background extra so I trust people aren't lying to me) It really doesn't deserve the hate it gets, it's a really enjoyable musical

As someone who has distanced themself from the cartoon because of recent years this was actually a great musical. It really was fun to watch and thank you Nickelodeon for doing a pro shoot for broadcast.

I know old video. My daughters performing arts school announced last year that her class would be doing spongebob. At 1st I was like this is the wrong age range , the smaller ones should do it. She is in 12 to 16 yrs range, and turns 16 next month. Then she said she wanted to audition for plankton. She played the song and the playlist is now in the car. The songs are amazing. Even better they weren't allowed to audition for a chacter just male or female. She auditioned male and got the part of plankton, she is already working on the very fast rap bit.

This was a very good series and it actually has good songs and feels like an episode from the first or third seasons.

As someone who has played drums for this show, I love this take. I played for a local theater company production, and thus recognize that there may be some talent differences. However, I feel like this show was very great, and is absolutely worth seeing. My one piece of advice is this: If you go in knowing that the plot will be total bollocks, but the music will fucking slap, this show will be so much more enjoyable, Sorry for the language, but it is the truth. The music for this show is so well written, and by so many great artists, it will be the greatest thing you have heard…if you’re not cursing the story for being horrendous. Hopefully this helps someone enjoy the show more, because the music deserves so much recognition. Shoutout to Todd Kitt, or whatever his name is, for bringing this banging soundtrack together!!

Finally! Someone who doesn’t hate on the Musical. I originally thought I would hate it, but I didn’t see it on broadway, I saw it somewhere else, but it was really good! I also watched some slime tutorials! I just hate how random people who have never seen movies / tv shows / musicals etc, and hating on it! Their so annoying! Tysm for posting!

Jai'Len has such HUGE career potential ahead of her, and so really does the rest of the cast. I was in the crowd of not giving this musical much credit but then I watched the Nick special when they aired it live and I absolutely fell in LOVE. all these super super talented folks in one musical and its absolutely fantastic. I wish i had gone to see it when it was in my state because i super regret it

i was starting to question how david bowie would've contributed since the musical came out a few months after Bowie passed away (rip legend) till i realised how long it takes to create a broadway musical

I always say this: I saw both Hamilton with the original cast and this musical and I liked SpongeBob more. I saw wicked years ago. And dear even Hansen off-broadway. SpongeBob won by a lot

I was never a fan of spongebob, something about the voice and the sense of humor was always really grating to me. (probably didn't help that i only saw it when i was in my "i hate being a kid im a grown up now" phase) I probably never would've seen the musical but my cousin was in a local production of it (she and her gf were karen and plankton, it was very cute) But now that I have seen it, I'm a little obsessed. The music is fun, the characters are done well, etc. One thing that I think definitely helps is that right away they give an inciting event and a time limit. If they had lingered too long on the typical dynamics it would've lost my interest very quickly, but the volcano makes sure everything keeps moving. They also toned down the character voices which I appreciate. There are definitely a few references to in-jokes from the show but they pass quickly and it's not all there is, so that's nice. Probably helps that spongebob, sandy, and patrick have very strong polyam vibes, I'm always a sucker for that.

I really like the show but I only like the costumes of the main cast, the others are not as creative
