Americans live in a bubble dominated by politics and the media, thinking they are the best and don't look at the rest of the world where there are countries much better than America

In Europe we educate our children to be independent. In America, education is for children, they become crystal relics, then they become Karens

Smoking is usually strictly forbidden in german schools. (You are not allowed to buy cigarettes or smoke them in germany if you are younger than 18. Not just in schools.)

Watched about a million vids last year helping my daughter move in to college, and I agree- all the videos recommend different things. There’s a ton of storage and cleaning items I pre-bought to help her out. We went grocery shopping once we got there, and I made sure she had a shoe box full of medicines as well as extra fem supplies. Because we were not sure everything she would need (especially decor items)- she could have waited until after moving in to pick up things a little at a time. I was stressed b/c she doesn’t have a car. So I was afraid she would not be able to get off campus to get what she needed, so I over bought on a lot of items. If you have a car, then there’s quite a few things you can wait on. Biggest is the medicines, cleaning supplies and mattress topper+ bedding for your bed. Nearly everything else you can buy after at Walmart, Target, or Amazon as you need it. Bring the items you use every day as far as toiletries goes. Also laundry cleaning supplies. You won’t need nearly half the clothing and shoes you think you do. Even if you’re rushing. Leave all your winter stuff at home and come back for the holidays and pick them up then. Most places it’s still pretty warm fall semester. My daughter grabbed her winter stuff at Halloween. Get your own snacks after you get there. You will feel more comfortable with familiar foods, clothing, and bedding around you. Also photos! Print them out. You will get home sick at some point. Don’t bring even ten percent of your high school items. In fact wearing any high school items on college campus is “un cool”. Upgrade yourself clothing wise to college tshirts and hoodies. Also! Start taking Vit C before you head off to campus. And after you get there take them every day. Have Lysol spray and wipes on hand cause you WILL get sick. Have your cold meds, Tylenol, and cough drops also. Regular routine, plenty of water, good sleep, and not eating crap- and you will feel a LOT better all the time. Take care of yourself. ❤

Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪 but little question why do High School students carry a heavy bagpack 😅 ? Your black bagpack seems more like a hiking bag, must be tiring for your back to carry that everyday at school 😅

We do have a lunch room at my school, but that's mostly for the younger ones, the older ones (9th grade or higher) are allowed to go home in the lunch break, so most people just leave school to eat something at home

Why have a few adults changing rooms between classes, when you can have 200 kids chaotically running through the corridors to change class rooms? Someone in America gives a lot of thought to how things should be done ✔️ no wonder they have foot pound and freedom to measure everything.

One of the criteria to german tests is reliability. Multiple-choice-tests with low amount of answers have very bad reliability as a randomly answered test will produce a certain amount of correct answers on average. Therefore they tend to be avoided.

I see this video is two years old. I hope you've had a lot of good times since you made it, Caroline. It was brave thing to be a foreign exchange student, brave of you to make the necessary decision to come home and brave to make this video. COVID was hard on us all because it really shut down our social lives. It sounds like you didn't know much German when you got there. That would have been tough. I wish you had changed families, whether you ended up coming home early or not. I made friends with a German foreign exchange student here in America many years ago. She changed families part way through the year because she was so unhappy with her first family. Her second family was much better and she was very happy with them. As I'm sure you've learned, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You, a teenager, did the best you could under difficult circumstances. None of us is perfect or ever will be on Earth. I admire your strength! Remember, you're never alone. May I suggest that you lean on the everlasting arms of Jesus, the Son of God. Much happiness to you now and in the future! You have what it takes!

Seems to me that doing an exchange program during your high school years is a harder time to do it than while you're in college when you've had more experiences, had more growing up under your belt and might be better equipped to deal with the challenges. Add Covid to the mix, and the headwinds can become overwhelming. But hindsight is 20/20. Best wishes.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Seems like you gave it a decent shot, but with all the COVID related negatives and your difficulty with the language, it's clear that coming home was your best option at that time! Welcome Home!

@@monkaZETTA The oppression of people, gender pay gap, pejudice, inequality and others lifes are a joke to you? Well.. And why do you think this course is replacing another? And if it comes on top of your regular education, how could it be bad? :)

I am on exchange at the moment too. I have always had a weird relationship with food where I would minorly restrict and I have been quite skinny my entire life. I am used to be outside more often as I am from Australia and it was easy to keep myself busy as my friends were only a street away. But now here on exchange in Denmark I am finding myself only thinking about food. I have been here for nearly 2 months and its a great experience but I cannot help but feel so lost. The weather is so grey, cold, and wet. No one asks me to hangout. I do not know the language. So the only thing I find myself thinking about is food. First it just began with me eating a bit more than I usually did, but then it turned into binging, every afternoon. I have already gained 10 pounds just in the last month. I feel so disgusted with myself. But it is so hard to eat how I used to because the food here is so different. There is almost no fruit in the supermarkets. I just finished a binge. I keep thinking to myself that people will like me here more once I lose weight that I lose focus of being a nice, interesting person towards them because my mind is consumed with the thought of food and my body 24/7. I am getting a membership to the gym next week so I am hoping that will keep me busy. I just want to rid this disorder from my identity. It is taking over my exchange. If you have any sort of tips specific to the emotions of being an exchange student please reply. I just want to get better.

i have to talk to my parents abt being a hostfamily. Because guys I swear life with me would be so fucking exciting. I’m a 16 year old girl and I live in one of the biggest cities in germany and my English is not that well but i can talk abt everything with someone yk. My sister moved out and we have a room free but my parents would never allow that someone lives here for like a couple of months. But I hope one day they will. I could show her how life as a teenager in germany is , she would go on the best housepartys she ever went, i would show her my City , she would have so many friends and it WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT be boring. Oh man I don’t even know how to become a hostfamily
