Ok, pretty pleased that I understood about 2/3 of that.. worse is that half of the rest are words I recognize, but whose meaning I can't recall 😒

I am a native Thai speaker, and I want to say that your note is very difficult to read. Some words I cannot read, and some words I do not understand at first, but when I read the whole sentence, I get the context, so I understand. It’s no surprise that foreigners wouldn’t be able to read it.

Stuart, for Khmer, it's not about nationalism but about preserving fact and truth. However, for the Sayam/Tai/Siem/Thai, it's all about nationalism. The delusional pride of everything and anything of Thai are taken to an extreme to the point of shameless. Khom, Kham, Khamara, and a few other terms are all mean "KHMER" or Cambodia. The dilemma is, the Thai denied and rejected any connection or association with Khmer because for over 700 years since their existence, it was and still is, an on going anti-Khmer mantra. To admit to the truth would destroy their psyche. It is a multi-generational mental sickness that Thai population inherited since the existence of this kingdom. Hate Khmer at any cost has been the chosen method opted by Sayam/Siem/Tai/Thai of past, present and future. Everytime, Khmer or Cambodia comes up, their bloods boiled with hatred and animosity. For Khmer, it's not shock and awe of this claim. The Thai fighting tooth and nail in this denial.

3:16 you're kinda confusing several things in modern Korean, ㅔ andㅐ have both merged to mid [e̞] ㅌ is the aspirated t, not the tenuis one. The word 태권도 is actually using aspirated t. It's not a systemic match with the kanji because it was influenced by a previous martial art taekkyeon (you would expect 대 because of voicing) 5:17 the Cantonese should be aspirated k in kyun4. 11:54 you demonstrate these as ejectives because you don't release into a vowel at all. aside for previously mentioned ㅌ needing to be aspirated, the ㄱ is indeed unaspirated [tʰe̞k̚.kwʌ̹n.do] 13:37 I don't think it's actually because English think it's "stupid". The way he says it is the established English pronunciation of it, of course hearing the original doesn't register to mean anything because that's not the English form. Now of course he's overconfident and rejects the other pronunciation which does make him kind of a fool. 14:19 English /ɛ/ is a lax vowel in English phonology, it primarily occurs short and with a following consonant so it's difficult to conceptualize independently for an English speaker. If they do try to make it long and valid in open syllables, it'll turn into /eɪ/. 16:24 the Cantonese of 陳 is can4 /tsʰɐn˨˩/, not chaan4 (also ch isn't valid in jyutping) 17:04 it's not that English people can't say something close to /tɕ/ at the beginning of the word, it's that they're reading the spelling. In English, Tr makes a historical /tɹ/ cluster, later affricated [tʃʰɹ]. /æ/ is used by analogy with other English words (can, ban, man, etc).

i think Swedish sounds alot more polished than the other two, and how norwegian is spoken is literally the same way old swedish was spoken. example; when saying "my mother" you'd say "modern min" in norwegian (the mother (of) mine), and in old swedish it was the same but now we say "min mamma" or "min moder". if you go far enough into the countryside you can probably find people still speaking like that but if you're gonna learn one you might wanna learn norwegian since it shares alot more words with danish than swedish does, so you can understand all the scandinavian languages to a wide extent.

one trick is remember the word as the image and guess the word when you see it. when I was in the high school I unlock this reading skill by copying lots of my friend homework because their hand writing is so messy. haha

It's like Vietnam language or Philippin language but they writing their alphabet in latin of Europe letters. It's not different from Thailand. Thai language but writing khmer letters.

This letter if khmer read, the pronunciation definitely different from thai. Because this is thai language written in khmer letters. That's why if khmer read, it will be wrong. Example in khmer the letter រ=R but in thai this letters រ=L or sometimes this letters រ=N. Let me explain: example the word "food" in khmer language is អារហារ (Arhar) but in thai is อาหาร (Arharn) or the letters រ=R but thai read this letters រ=L.
