David Moyes WHU legacy ..... playing the most negative & miserable style of so called football, dividing the fans base, dividing the dressing room, wasting tens of millions of pounds EVERY SEASON on players that he selected that didn't suit his style of play, constantly playing players out of position, constantly ignoring our talented kids, acting like a petulant child when his new boss Steidten came on board, constantly lying that the club had offered him the new manager/ coach role and that he would decide at the end of the season if he wished to stay, constantly gaslighting his achievements ... @@beatonthedonis Here we go again.... how do you know that Pelegrini wouldn't have got us out of the relegation zone if he wasn't sacked??? Yes we did win that trophy ... against teams that we outspent ALL OF THEM COMBINED, so it wasn't an amazing achievement

@@IggyGoesPop666 It's like talking to people who've only watched West Ham for the past six months and actually hate the club and their achievements. Pellegrini had lost 9 games in 12 before he was sacked, and the side looked an unfit, unmotivated shambles. Are you seriously suggesting that Anderson, Yarmolenko, Haller and Wilshere were the type of players to win a relegation scrap? And as for our worthless cup win, Aston Villa has spent £100m more than West Ham in the last five years, and lost 6-2 on aggregate to a side we beat this season.

I'm afraid you're wrong about the 22/23 season. Yes, there was always a risk of being relegated until the final few games, but we weren't in the relegation zone for MOST of the season. In fact, we only ended five of 38 gameweeks in the bottom three. Two of those five were in the first three games of the season when we started the season with three defeats. And you can't discredit a team's trophy success based on spend. Otherwise, almost every single trophy win by any team in history should be discredited. Fact is, we won a European trophy. The same European trophy Spurs, Leicester, Aston Villa, Ajax, Feyenoord, Lazio, Marseille, PSV, Villarreal and Frankfurt have all failed to win in the last three years. That's an achievement, whether you like it or not.

The signs were there with Moyes when he decided we needed to become a team that controlled games more so he signed Paqueta, Aguerd etc and absolutely failed and had to revert to low block because he didn’t know what else to do. It’s mental that actually happened. Moyes played a style of football not because he liked it but because he didn’t know what else to do…

I have no problem with the genius Pep's City being the biggest club in England at the moment as I remember teams like United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea who also buying their success. The difference with City is that they are now competing with 4 - 5 teams every season whist the other Prem League and the old First Division winners only had one team to compete with one elite team every season.

Think Will has been hanging around the TalkSport towers too long, and coming off as a bit bitter in this one. What Moyes has achieved has been amazing over the 4 years we have had him, only idiots would contest that, but a big factor to Moyes's downfall has been the style of play, recruiting a small aging squad, not using youth well enough, and his form over the last 5 months has been abysmal. The way we were winning didn't seem sustainable in the first half of the season which was ultimately proven right, and selling off squad players and not replacing didn't help. It has just come to it's natural end point in my opinion.

From day one, Moyes was always an awkward fit. He wasn't well received first time around and the fans played a pivotal role in him being moved on for Pellegrini. Fast forward to 2020 and Moyes certainly wasn't welcomed back with open arms, so I think it was inevitable that fan opinion would force him out once again albeit after a much longer period than most of us anticipated and having achieved far more than we thought he could. Unfortunately, there were a large section of fans who just weren't having him. They kept quiet during the first 18 months because it was going so well, but it really didn't take a long run of poor form before they piped up. There were plenty of murmurings during the back end of the 21/22 season and it took barely 3-4 games in to last season before they were laying it on pretty thick. It got louder and louder and eventually became impossible to ignore. Even the ECL trophy didn't really satisfy those who didn't want Moyes. They seemed to be put out by us winning that title because it meant another season of Moyes. I'm not sure many 'Moyes in' supporters (myself included) would argue with any great conviction that Moyes' football was a fun watch, but for me, it became more about feeling he was being unjustly persecuted. Moyes copped it for not having the charisma in both his interviews and in the way his team plays football and that in itself was the reason so many wanted him gone. I felt compelled to push back against the tide because it felt unjust to hammer a bloke that had done so much good for our club. It angered me how people would give no credit to Moyes for his obvious achievements at West Ham based solely on not really liking him. It irritated me to hear people talk about what a nasty selfish person he is despite them having had no contact with the guy. I hear the opposite said about him from people who actually do know him. But those people are labelled cronies. Anyway, what's done is done. I just hope now that people swallow their ill feelings, recognise the mission is complete and clap the guy off in to the sunset. Even if they are doing it solely for that one night in Prague, I think that achievement is worthy of one more round of applause!

Has 4-5 years experience in management despite only being 38, has managed in 3 leagues across two countries and has a year of Premier League experience now. I think he'll learn quickly from his mistakes. With Burnley probably going down, I think we could get him. Xabi Alonso got promoted and then relegated with Sociedad B so not too worried about the relegation, I think it would be an exciting appointment.

I get annoyed with Moyes IN and OUT fans when they choose to ignore the valid points that the other side puts across. As it happens there are very valid points to keep Moyes and to also let him go. Everyone I know (Moyes in & out) appreciates all the good work he has done and the trophy that he helped the club win (the board, Moyes, the players and the fans support all played a part). I'm not so sure about comparing the 2nd Moyes era to previous managers though, from about the 2nd season at the LS it kind of feels like we levelled up as club with regards to spending. Over the decades that I have supported West Ham I can never remember us competing with the top 10 clubs financially. The Icelandic years maybe but we were such a joke club we had to over pay for players that were better than average.

Excellent comment. Appreciates the nuance, makes you think and respects both sides of the debate. Tend to agree with most of what you’ve said. Agree the level of spending may have levelled up when you said but don’t you think the way the money was spent really improved once Moyes arrived? But re: Moyes IN / OUT, the argument has got polarised like so many others in society when in reality most people fall on different points of a sliding scale. And appreciate both sides of the debate as you said. If 10 on the scale is “staunch Moyes In, get the statue up” and 1 is “he’s Satan incarnate, I never wanna see him again” then James is probably a 3.5 and I’m around a 6.5 but if you listen to our pod regularly, you’ll know we try to acknowledge all elements of the debate.

Not sure what your concern is there. I find it very hard to believe you don’t know a single person who “likes” our greatest manager of the modern era but fair enough if you don’t.
