Villeneuve had a big heart, Prost a big brain, Senna big balls, Schumacher a big ego.

Never seen video footage of this car in action. Wow!! That sound is magnificent! MP4/4 is my favorite F1 car but I have a feeling this one may have topped it if given the chance. Incredible! Senna said he liked the car...I 100% agree with him.

another comment from his Renault days is the gear box of his car is always perfect while his teammates was always destroyed

That is because he was directly shifting from 5th to 2nd gear (as you can see it at Zandvoort before Tarzan curve) with a very long and high rev heel-toe instead of downshifting one gear at a time like all other drivers.

Lamborghini engines in the end of 1993 had 710 hp . The last evolution for test had 750. Also V 12 was heavier , the car will have bigger dimesions , more weight and more fuel because V 12 needs more fuel The same power had Peugeot A6 , Ilmor mercedes v10 engines. Ford zetec had 740 but was only for Benetton Older ford HB and Mugen Honda had lower power. It was impossible for McLaren with all these engines to compete williams and Ferrari with more powerful engines.

Peugeot made mistake to design F1 engine in October of 1993. The engine run irst time in dyno ,in Christmas of 1993 and run for first test , in McLaren car , in February 1994. It was too late in three months to design and test an new F1 engine

I'd read about these early P-D races but this training footage is remarkable. That 4L 4x4 is a work of art. Somehow, something was lost with the passing of those simpler days, when an R4 4x4 with a Gr.2 R5 Gordini engine was competitive. Wonderful footage.

He was trail braking. All F1 drivers do it now. You need a decent diff set up and high levels of car control. It rotates the car prior to apex and allows an early application of throttle. Quick 911 drivers have been doing it for years.
@rascassette5 ай бұрын
Yes but Today's F1 drivers do not have such early corner entry like if he was trying to put even more mechanical constrait to the car to pivot.
