@NetworkXIII
@NetworkXIII 4 ай бұрын
@MaximRecoil There will be a part four if and when I feel like shooting and editing it. I don't get paid to make these videos, and you don't pay to watch them. I reassembled the hook switch about four years ago without any issues. You phone experts seem to equate it to taking a Rolex apart and then trying to reassemble it blindfolded while on a rollercoaster. I shot photos and made good notes when I took it apart, so it wasn't much of a challenge to put it back together (scroll down about ten comments for a similar scolding concerning the hook switch from another know-it-all.) I always welcome constructive comments from viewers, but if you're just here to bust balls or troll, please do so in someone else's comment section.

In making reproduction battery packs for an old Mac PowerBook and I need to read the serial off the ds2400 in the old pack and then I want to copy it to a ds2401. Can you provide some arduino code that can do a write?
@NetworkXIII
@NetworkXIII 4 ай бұрын
Good question, I don’t know how to overwrite the data in the DS2401, or what NVM technology they are using, so it may not even be possible. You could probably use one of the simpler PIC microcontrollers to reproduce the functionality of the 2401, and you could obviously write any s/n you want into that. Sounds like an interesting project
@sideburn
@sideburn 4 ай бұрын
@@NetworkXIII do you think that ALL of the battery packs have the same serial number that Apple would have programmed onto the the DS2400 or do you think that the serial number on it is just the default that is on the DS2400 from the factory so each battery has a unique number? In that case I could just purchase a batch of them and be done and no need to read or write them. What I do know is the Ds2400 is required in the battery pack. If I try to power the laptop up without it it won’t boot. Once I connect the original DS2400 then it boots right up.

On page 5 of the datasheet it shows how to connect 4 LEDs in parallel. If wanted to connect six green LEDs using a 3V coin cell how do I determine what resistors and capacitor to use? (For four LEDs with 1.5V the datasheet indicates a 200 and 750 ohm resistor and a 3V/1100uF capacitor along with 30ohm resistor in series with each led). Also what decides the maximum number of LEDs you can flash?
@NetworkXIII
@NetworkXIII 5 ай бұрын
The green LEDs should work OK, I would try the 3V circuit on the upper left of page four of the datasheet, and try a 1000uF cap with the 39 ohm LED load resistors. Let me know how it goes.
@vanfifty139
@vanfifty139 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for replying. The circuit on the upper left of page four shows one LED configuration. To confirm, you are suggesting to use this configuration in the datasheet and I should try putting my six green LEDs in parallel with each other, with each LED having a 39ohm resistor in series with it?
@vanfifty139
@vanfifty139 5 ай бұрын
Following up: I connected the six LEDs with six 39ohm resistors along with a 1000uF capacitor (using the circuit on the upper left of page four as you suggested). I set my multimeter to capture max. current. For six LEDs the current draw was 6.1mA. The current through a single LED was 0.78mA. Reducing the capacitor to 330uF resulted in a draw of 2.59mA, and current through a single LED was 0.27mA. Thank you, this works great! -- BTW: What is the purpose of the 39ohm series resistors in this circuit? Are they acting as current limiting resistors? (Increasing the capacitance caused a delay in blinking, though the brightness was higher and so was the total current draw. )
@NetworkXIII

Question: could I use this code to test homemade cables with any baud rate? I’m making a homemade serial cable which goes from an rs232 db9 female connection to an idc10 female connection which will be used to program an older fire alarm control unit I got for free when it was removed from a building during a system renovation. I want to make sure the cable doesn’t distort, corrupt, or not properly send data through it. I’m currently using a terminal app (PuTTY) which is basically a hyper terminal clone to test but I’m still not 100% sure if it will guarantee that the data I’m sending through the cable is being properly transmitted.

Can use a medium current/power transistor wired as an amplified diode. There are 2 potential divider resistors placed across the collector, base, and emitter leads of the transistor. Use is similar to a zener diode with a series limiting resistance. Make sure the total potential divider resistors are about 10 times the limiting resistance value for satisfactory performance. Equal resistor values produce about 1.2 to 1.3 volts. Potential divider output voltage calculation: 0.65 × (Rpd1 + Rpd2) ÷ Rpd2
