Without war, politics/deception, exploitation this music would never have happened.

Sounds nothing like Summertime but it's a virtuoso display by both of them.

It’s hard to overstate how exciting this trio was during the late 90s early 00s era.

May be unfair to say but I’ve always seen these two playing together as something like a master and the student who’s become master having this amazing conversation with the pupil having the energy and the master the finesse. Idk man it’s beautiful irregardless no matter the song or performance with these two

I loved how Rossy picks up the dropped drumstick without pausing the performance. That's a pro!

Scary instincts and intelligence. Like a super computer hooked up to the wrong power supply. (Great!) And his concert encore version is a joy to watch.

Has anyone found the full concert? It looks like it's from a broadcast of the North Sea Jazz Festival and judging by Brad's past tours this looks like it would be July 11 1997 however I can't find any video of the full concert.

But not for ME, I EVEN know Their Music. ZWEI BÖSENDORFER. Give me a man(or Shirley Scott) on a B3 OR Alan Price or anything from England ca late 60..Give me John McLauglin!! Dag
Bartok meets Gershwin..I guess would of like one course of whole melody by either one..great genius talents but dont know how much Gershwin would of liked..Cole porter hated when Sinatra change 1 word in the lyric just saying

Some musically GOLDEN "old" meets some musically GOLDEN "new", how can good things NOT happen? I enjoyed the rotating "style" changes, kind of playing in one of his "modes", then hers, in unison, style wise, and then heading out of the solar system to parts unknown. FUN!

Fantastic. Comparing this with the album recording it has so many new ingredients. Loved the way Brad held everything up this time and then let go with so much fire. Great trio. And maybe the answer to the old/new trio question is drug-related.

Pretty sure he was getting off drugs around the time of this recording.

Also, great description of his solo arc. He did hold so much back, that’s what I love about his improvising. He knows how to tell a good story.

strange "Summertime". Lousy improv on the part of both of those pianists
@Ronald602026 жыл бұрын
Sure...if you don't get what you want. "Lousy improv" to one is inspired creativity to another. Everyone's a critic, sir. But the last word most folks would ever apply to these two is lousy. But...as you say...it's your opinion.
@brianpatterson73325 жыл бұрын
I think most virtuoso jazz musicians would agree that Chick Corea is among the half dozen greatest living jazz musicians and one of the all time great improvisors. The level of improvisation on this track is astounding. Do you have any knowledge of jazz and improvisation?
