i have a cdl already but am 20 years old and can’t find a job. Do either companies take you in for local routes? or do more training for you, so your still fresh until you are 21?

OTR isn’t for everyone. That’s what they’re angry about. The lifestyle of an OTR trucker. Which means you shouldn’t be OTR in the first place. It’s called over the road for a reason. Our tails finna be over the road. That’s OTR trucking. Staying out turning & burning. Enjoying the country & every now & then taking a week off to get a hotel & exploring one of these cities we’ve been passing thru while out on the road. Taking a trip out the country or something. Enjoy the fact you can have no bills & pocket all your money outside of a cell phone. Get out the truck on those 10hr breaks & mess around for 2-3hrs. Same on the 34 resets. Enjoy the solitude & peace. OTR is for a vagabond career, but at least you got a bunk, A/C, tv, free showers, making money, etc…if you don’t enjoy OTR go local. Home every night, time & a half after 40hrs, friends & family on the daily, & home on the weekend to have a work life balance. If you need societal norms go local. Nothing normal about OTR trucking.

I’m an LTL driver in Atlanta, LtL drivers that drive locally have more respect for each other because you might see each other again! I do notice that the OTR drivers driving through don’t really have the respect we LTL drivers give each other. Y’all are not the only ones that have to make a delivery, stop blocking the pull through.

Some Facts & Common sense: #1. This was not a robbery (his belongings, truck & cargo and jacket was not taken from the area). #2. There would have been no reason for him to have driven north the wrong way off of US 20 when he should have went south unless he was either forced to or chose to ditch the truck and leave but I don't think he staged it because the key was left in the ignition and the truck in the road with no emergency triangles. Highly unlikely that a driver is going to leave a truck that they own and its cargo. They would be afraid of being held responsible for anything that could happen with the truck like it being ran into and a lawsuit. Most drivers have a sense of pride and would deliver a load and park a truck at home before vacating it. I don't know if he owed money on the truck but that wouldn't have been a reason to disappear. #3 Whoever took him from that point likely knew him and probably knew he was likely not armed if he had been a felon in the past. I would think someone would have had to take him at gun point from the truck stop and tell him where to drive thus they probably knew the area. If he was even in the truck driving from the shipper to that point.

Hello my brother. I like your attitude and how you approach trucking. I started driving in 1987 with a chauffeurs license. I broke my back and have been working in the breakdown department. But I will be back out there with you in a month or two. May I offer you a couple tips? If your spot is taken, you have a couple options that will help the shipper/receiver. Find an empty spot near by, as you did, and go back to the desk and tell them what is and that a driver dropped in your spot. Remember, it wasn’t the receiver that probably dropped the trailer there. It was an OTR driver. You didn’t have a load yet and a little courtesy goes a long way. Or if you are in a hurry, drop it and stop at the desk and tell them you’re in a rush and what spot you dropped it off, so their donkey doesn’t have to run around looking for it. Then they are mad at you. Second, can you turn the radio off when filming. It is a little difficult to hear you. Thanks again and when I get my truck going, I will let you know so you can go to the Facebook messenger and get ahold of me. I do have experience and will be happy to get to know you.
