Nice break down of an advanced level fill. I would not have imagined I would be able to even try on a Steve Gadd fill. Are we doing 64ths here? So when you do note rates do you "think" the count, or the sticking? Do you think in terms of the 1/4 note while playing the 64ths? Curious, because I cannot count out lout 32ds at 110bpm let alone play and count 64ths. So i kind of try to stay on the 1/4 note count or 8th, and make 5's and 7's just fit it.

I'm a keyboard player and have been playing for nearly 50 years, I don't really care if keys a weighted/none-weighted or semi-weighted, keys are keys are keys, you hit a key and it produces a sound, but the only feature I hate on most keyboards is the touch feature, which I always turn it off so that the notes played are all the same volume. If I want to play pianissimo, then I use a soft pedal, or if I want to play fortissimo, then I use the loud pedal, or a combination of both if I want a sustained soft note. I've played just about all keyboards/pianos from an orchestral Steinway to a Yamaha Tyros 4, and currently I own a vintage ARP2600, Hammond B3 with full Leslie cabinet, Dual manual Yamaha ELS-02 and a portable Yamaha Tyros 4.

Yea for sure, Some people are in this camp with you but there are definitely many who are now... There are so many people who are complaining how the keys feel on the Modx 6 & 7 as compared to the Motif or the older DX7. You might also be a much more seasoned player than most as well. Thanks for the input and checkin the channel. I would like to ask.. What type of music do you primarily play?

I wonder if this would help my Karp Odyssey FS. It’s got the absolute worst, lightest, wimpy, cheap action this side of a Poly 800. Was wondering if addy some mass to the bottom of the keys would help. My only reservation is that I don’t believe there are any springs to counter act the additional weight. Decent key beds always have springs installed at the back.
@gravitydrums1391Ай бұрын
OK so I have another musician friend who put tire weights with adhesive on the keys and he said it was too much but using the hot glue gun its really nice because you can start with pulling the trigger on the gun4 times and then if you want more do it again . Each time you do it wait for it to cool and check to see if it makes enough of a difference for you. I did it 3 times and I am really lovin it.

The new CK6 has the synth semi weighted action you're looking for with same sounds. A tad less editing on board but a computer would overcome that
@gravitydrums1391Ай бұрын
Thanks for the Input. Good to know. What is the price point?
@gravitydrums1391Ай бұрын
Hey Michael, OK, So I checked out the CK61. The pricepoint is 600 dollars more than this guy. And for what its worth the Speakers in this 473 rival some studio monitors. I have the Modx8 and the Mox8 but I wont get rid of this 473 because the speakers, is so portable and be used with batteries, Have a ton of pro sounds, Has stereo 1/4 inch outputs and costs only 360 bucks.. For what this is it is truly amazing. Now that I have put the glue under the keys it feels really good too. For me personally, I am floored with what this does for the money.

@@arrowintheknee9956 I'd consider it 10/8 since the accents are placed on 8th notes and the beat loops after 10 8th notes. 5/4 would be equally correct. The initial beat I'd count as 3+3+4. But I guess it's subjective to a degree.
