I have a question. I am sewing my son's bib with square neckline for the inside corners. I end up with too much bias tape at the corners. I am using the double fold bia tape and the seam is on the fold. I dont know the amount of inches to do before you fold bia tape over and then go across to other edge.

I see this video was posted a year ago so I am wondering how your pressing mat has held up. Does it smell musty or moldy? I'm asking that question because after watching several DIY videos on how to make a portable pressing mat, most say you need a reflective layer so the wood doesn't get moldy from the steam. I know wool is supposed to be a better pressing pad but I also know it holds the moisture in as well. Love the simplicity of your mat. Thank you for sharing your video!

My pressing board has held up great! I have several of these, some that are 10+ years old. I haven’t had any problems with smell or mold.

How is your wool holding up in the mat? Does it help to make your blocks flatter?

The wool has held up great! I have a few of these me-made ironing boards and I haven’t had to change the wool out yet. A few of them are 10+ years old.

I use Pilot Frixion eraseable pens to mark fabric. It washes out. This is not original to me; I read about it somewhere and it really works!

I too am a "presser", and can't believe that I've never considered a small ironing board placed right next to my sewing machine! What brand/model of iron do you use? It seemed like it produce a good amount of steam. Lastly, I love that IKEA fabric and it's a shame that they aren't selling fabric any longer.

Thank you! I've been thinking on making a small ironing board and this is super useful. I have a question though, I have a plastic board (for cutting vegetables) that is just perfect, would the plastic be fine if I put a lot of layers of quilting fabric (that filler thing I forgot the name 😅) and cotton fabrics on top?

I can't wait to try this! I usually take sooo long on my darts. One trick I've often used is sewing my darts backwards (starting at the apex) as this helps with keeping the point secure and I had learned that the apex placement is the most important part

Holy mother rupaul. I do the sewing off the end, I use a ham, sometimes, being a DD cup, I curve my dart legs... but the envelope. THE ENVELOPE. Jennifer. you are AMAZE.

For curved darts sometime I'll trace the curve onto a piece of cardstock, then cut it out. Then I can use the curved cardstock as my guide against the needle. I bet you have so many of your own tricks! One day we'll have to sew together and trade secrets!

Hi Rosie!!! When I can’t sew, I like to do as you mentioned: tidy up, go over and make a list of patterns and fabrics I want to use, do some Pinterest searching, and sketch out ideas. All fun and part of the whole sewing process!

YES!!! Rosie! Oh she's SO BEAUTIFUL. Give her loves for me and tell her thank you for blessing me with her face. I def spend too much time doing things that don't serve me. I did buy 9 Heads and other fashion drawing books thinking I'd get better at croquis via iPad pencil on down time but I do find I'm more likely to tinker on embroidery than work on my drawing.

I store PDF patterns in 2 or 3 inch binders in side loading sheet protectors, which keep small bits (like placket guides) from slipping out, then I can binder clip the sheet protector and hang with fabric and if I print the instructions (because how else can you make notes with a pen/pencil or stick on a post-it) that can usually just slip in the sheet protector. Also, card stock for ironing guides and printing off patterns for bags or bras where the pattern pieces can be fiddly.
