To make sure I understand, when you separated the floss you did it multiple times right? But made sure each time you had 2 strands when you were pulling it away?

I'd reccoment you make a test strip that you measure before and after smocking.

The question I have when you smock like this is what ratio of fabric do you need to create the finished product. Like would I need 3 times the final fabric width from side to side and 2 times the length from top to bottom?

I was wondering that as well 😅

I'm trying to attach a polyester satin gold (no stretch) applique on top of my stretchy polyester spandex dress (Deedlit). I was planning on doing a needle turn applique method. But I was worried it would damage the stretch material. Do you have any recommendations for terrible shooting that? The gold pleather by yaya han looks great!
@WheezyCatLady10 ай бұрын
This is from a long time ago but in case this reply helps anyone: If you want to applique a non stretch fabric to a stretch fabric the key is to stretch the base fabric (the one that you will apply your applique to) to the size and shape of the person who will be wearing it before pinning the NON stretch applique to it. You can either wear the garment yourself and hand baste your appliques on while you're wearing it (be careful not to hurt yourself), or you can put the garment over a pillow or cardboard in the similar dimensions it will be worn to before hand basting the appliques to it. Then it's a case of removing the garment with your appliques in place and then sew your permanent stitch. If you do not stretch the base layer before you add your non stretch appliques you will run into fit problems and have tears in seams etc Hope this helps!

Nice! And you pull it off way better than Natalie. Ive always thought some thing was off about her and I could never pin point why until a few days ago. Its Natalie's brown/hazel eyes. It just doesnt work with her colorful outfits. Your blue eyes on the other hand works fantastically with the make up and the outfit I just saw your other video where you wore an Amidala costume.

If I don't wanna risk messing up my fabric, can I sew it on a separate piece of embroidery fabric and iron it on? I've looked up how to make patches but they all have a bold outline. I want a look similar to yours
@EveilleCosplay2 жыл бұрын
You could sew this on something like a light fabric like a polyester organza which you could then stitch on or could attempt to make a patch but I have personally never tried that.

@EveilleCosplay2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately I just wouldn't take on a commission for any of her Queen outfits, this gown took between 500 and 600 hours and over a year to make which for most is simply an unaffordable cost at my current rate.

This is so understandable!! Thanks. My question is how much do you think this reduces the fabric? When you need to cover a whole area, how do you generally do the math on that?
@EveilleCosplay2 жыл бұрын
How much it reduces can all depend on the size of your scales! Best bet is to make a sample piece for yourself at the size of your scales and compare the final to the original measurements of the fabric to get the percentage of reduction each way.
