You are wrong about the statement that most of the Chinese people are not friendly with Indians. These negative views towards India only came after 2020. Before that, majority of Chinese people were not even aware about disputes between India and China.

About the hindu thing, you didn't need to worry. Most hindus are atheists in India already. Hinduism is a culture not a religion. The culture is the thing you need to follow. For example:- Doing Namaste, bowing down to elders or touching their feet for blessings. People still need to do that even if they do not call themselves Hindu. And unlike Christianity or Islam, Hindus will not force you to follow hindu religion. The most they would ask you is not to eat cow.
