I love the Path of the Battlerager strictly from a roleplay standpoint. I wish the crunch (gameplay mechanics for the subclass) was better.
@nichlasbundgaard5583
@nichlasbundgaard5583 Күн бұрын
The subclass is certainly lacking, but there some niche things here. The fact that you wear armor allows you to invest more into CON which boost your temp hp (which many say are doubles for barbarians because of their resistances). It's a grapple subclass through and through, go in and grapple the important target, whack then with your armor reckless attack to maje their hits back do less to you and make them regret hutting you back. Honestly i think if you could get the unarmed fighting style on it you'd have a relatively decent chunk of damage, is it much at once? No, but like the ranger it is smaller instances of damage meaning that your minimum is going to be better than other barbarians. Is the subclass good? Not at higher level unless your DM gives you some good battlerager armor and maybe a slight boost to the temp hp ability, but i think it has its place. I'm also one who likes the Champion fighter so... anyway story time. I have played a Battlerager in a one-shot and it was quite funny. We could have either a +1 weapon or armor, i chose the armor while everyone else chose weapons. The party was invited to a feast where we had to leave our weapons behind, that's where the big bad monster shoved up, resistant to all damage that wasn't magical, i was the only one who could damage the thing, everyone else had to run to get their weapons and the spell casters struggled with other lesser threats. So yeah my grung Battlerager whacked that thing for d4s for days. 😂

I love this spell. Is great to surprise people. I once used it with my sorcerer with subtle spell. I was looking at an angry enemy and without even moving my hands I launched a chair at its back. At disadvantage, the poor dude failed the save and got killed by a flying chair in a instant. In another game we were fighting a big ogre, slow and with low dex. I throw rocks with catapult and the ogre save every single time. I tried 3 times until i gave up and our paladin killed it. It was extremely funny imagining a giant ogre evading the projectile

People actuality think the creature's who leave the cube aren't affected? It's pretty explicit, creatures within the area are affected for the duration if they fail the dex save. It doesn't require them to stay within the cube... imagine nerfing Slow like that.

Carrying Capacity. Your carrying capacity is your Strength score multiplied by 15. This is the weight (in pounds) that you can carry, which is high enough that most characters don’t usually have to worry about it. its capacity is 30lbs.

The way I have always thought of the alert feat is that you can't be surprised with surprise attacks sneak attacks or invisible foes it would be too game breaking to have it where a PC knows that a NPC is in fact a Changeling in disguise

I’m playing a Bearkin shield master in a two part campaign. The first part is the party growing as orphans in a group home, I’m planning on taking the athlete background and changing the echos of victory into observant for the first part of the campaign as a way to explain why he became a famous wrestler. What are your thoughts on this?

i have a few ideas for mage hand for a character i'm gonna be using in a.. pretty lighthearted campaign with a dm who is very open to flexibility with magic-- esp considering my character is a wild magic sorcerer who's essentially an... imaginary friend who somehow got conjured into existence-- anyway so some ideas i have for mage hand, he has a little cat buddy he can talk to but i'm getting really fond of the idea of him even just casually using mage hand to keep the cat entertained but also perhaps have it communicate with the cat with mannerisms like thing from the addams family lol. i also am thinking about how it could work in conjunction with cantrips like friends or spells like suggestion if i wanna get real bold, like hey, gimme yer keys, that kinda thing! i realize in this case there's gonna be a lot more flexibility than pprovided strictly like, in the rules, but it's interesting to think about ehehehe

Animate ovjects on 10 darts coated in variius longer lasting poisons you can coat ahead of time. Milk the imp poly into a pseudodragon to get milked. He hates it. Or summon venemous snakes. Drain alchemy jugs. Poison caltrops. Poison something you catapult. Also the bonus action really amps up sneak attack and subsequent rounds.

I used this as the basis of a magical Ranger Bow +1 "Fey Defender" - forged by a powerful Fey Druid and an ancient Treant who sacrificed himself for the bow wood..... Has 4+1 Charges recovered at dawn, 1 charge can empower an arrow similar to a Magic missile dealing 2d4+1 force damage in addition to the arrow damage. It also has a defensive property similar to the Absorb Elements spell where by using 1 charge it absorbs damage, grants resistance for the turn and recovers 1 charge for each 10 points of absorbed damage.

Nobody has taken this background in my games yet, but if they did, I would probably use it the same way I do with cleric and warlock classes: this character has a hook built in. Nobles don't get to just be rich fk boys. They have responsibilities. It's like being born with a job. Neglect those responsibilities and you'll lose the privileges and resources that come with them. I don't allow my players to have all dead families/connections. Even if one plays an orphan, they still know people, so that noble PC has a family or something that can take away all that

Hello, question: does the caster know wether the target passed or failed the saving throw? Example: if I use it to force an NPC to tell the truth for the duration of the spell, if they pass, do I know that the suggestion didn't take hold?

Lvl 1 lord wouldnt have decent stats or feats that would help them say...during negotiations with vassals/allies or during ceremonies or tourneys. Imagine he gets beat in a match against a neighboring realm, can't make good checks to look good and maintain his reputation, and then the neighboring realm essentially starts to see him as someone to be preyed upon. It can be done, and might even be fun. But the player might benefit from being an heir and having a parent who might train them some before having them represent their land.

Im alwasy intrigued by the idea of this spell on an Eldtritch Knight character playing in a campaign that has larger combat maps. If the spell is largely unchanged, I probably will try using it in the O D&D format as the updated E.K. is a considerably more attractive subclass, and if left unchanged certain feats like Charger which add 10 ft of movement to the Dash action synergize well. Outside of Magic Initiate picks like Hex for Warlock, I dont think the E.K. has much in the way of battlefield concentration spells, and not a whole lot of consistent bonus action use. I think this kind of mobility might be redundant on smaller maps, but for big ones, seems clutch. Thats 60-70 movement for an entire combat, allowing the fighter to maneuver around enemies as well as quickly get into position to protect squishy allies.

I don't think BB targets self. It has a point of origin of self, but targets only the attack target which is what makes it eligible for war caster. Also, the question of whether a target refrain from moving, it should be noted that PHB says the target of a spell doesn't necessarily know if a spell was cast on them unless the effect is obvious. I would say they don't likely know that they're under the effect of BB, so they wouldn't have reason to stop.

So is this everyone else who found out about the bard lvl 12 college of lore, fighter lvl 4 battle master, rouge lvl 4 thief? Human variant select gunner right in the beginning of the game, pick fighter so you have access to two pistols right in the beginning and choose range as your style. Then bard for spells and college, then rogue get all the skill proficiencies and sneak attack. Two pistols, command, confusion, mass suggestion, You are a mobbing king.

Probably my favorite spell in the game Also my most hated spell description in the game As you said, its long But it's also self contradictory and vague We start with the oddly restrictive locations you can cast it. It honestly seems like those aren't meant to be restrictions, but rather, suggestions Because.. why can I put this glyph on the floor, but if I put it on a piece of paper, it has to be folded? What? Probably just some poor word choice The English language is complicated, and we can't expect game designers to be able to use it adequately (actually, it's probably the number one thing in the job description) Moving on The glyph is nearly invisible? So.. it just.. has to be nearly invisible. You can't choose to have it be visible? I mean, fine, I can just draw over it with regular paint if i want it to be visible, but why not put a "may" in there? Now, on to the actual problems Triggers They list a whole bunch of ideas out there, all very physical things like touching it, or even reading it And then they say you can refine the shit out of it, to the point where it can detect alignment You know what, sure Ok This spell's trigger could be literally as specific as I want it to be then, forget that "password" bullshit If it can detect alignment, I can say "never be triggered by anyone I wouldn't want it to trigger on" and it should be able to detect that I could also set up a glyph to cast a healing spell if I drop below 0 hp And I can set up a glyph to cast a healing spell if I drop to zero hp and the first glyph is triggered Presumably, this detection even works across planes, there's no limitations, even implied limitations, on what the triggering requirements could be It also has no limit on the range that the glyph can target targets, just "The spell must target a single creature or an area" and "If the spell has a target, it targets the creature that triggered the glyph. If the spell affects an area, the area is centered on that creature" You're trigger could literally be "my arch nemesis (insert name here) on breathes" And it doesn't matter where the hell they are, you can cast feeblemind on them, summon a demon next to them, or cast mage armor on them Sure, that seems reasonable Next problem "If the surface or object is moved more than 10 feet from where you cast this spell, the glyph is broken, and the spell ends without being triggered" Relative to... what origin, exactly? Because if it's the center of.. whatever plane I'm sorry, that probably means this spell never works But that's definitely not how it works Heck, in some official d&d settings, there are glyphs of warding inscribed onto ships Now Idk if WOTC are aware of this But ships move So.. Is that entire clause just a lie? If not, what's the world origin? Clearly the intent is to make it so glyphs of warding don't make spell scrolls redundant, but.. we'll see if they did that in part 2

I'm going for a knight from a disgraced order who were essentially formed as a guard to a Barron and his holdings in a tense region but when they failed in their duty and the Barron and his family was killed in an assassination, they were ordered into a quest of penance, to wonder the realms aiding where they can with what they have, no retainers or keep or diplomatic weight other than their own charisma. It will give the character martial skill and education but not being OP.
