Great to see you - we always enjoy your videos! We love the Danbo sculptures. We made a video about some more of them that are in Bernheim forest, just outside of Louisville, earlier this year. What was the box you made the fire in? We've never seen anything like that. Is it collapsible? Thanks for sharing your adventure!

Thanks!!! The Dambo trolls are so cool! So far we’ve seen 4 of them in WA. We have one more to find in Seattle and then we’ve seen them all. We’ll definitely check out your video! The little firebox we have is made by a company called Proud Pyro, we got the small fire box. They have a larger one that we initially bought but it’s huge! We prefer the smaller one. It’s great. It’s collapsible and burns super clean leaving no trace. It’s the mini pyro cage, perfect size. www.proudpyro.com/collections/pyro-cages

Hey, Guys, it has been a while! Good to see you out adventuring. Winslow! Awesome! One of my favorite places. For 3 decades my parents moored their cruising sailboats at the Winslow marina. So many great memories hanging out there either preparing or doing work on the boats or departing for a 2-week trip up past the San Juans into Canadian waters. When I would come to Seattle on business I would often try to catch the ferry over to Winslow just to hang out. Glad you all enjoyed it!

It has been brought to our attention that a portion of this video may be offensive or make us look as coming off disrespectful or making fun of someone. I would like everyone to know that this was absolutely not the case. We were having fun with a local we met and meant absolutely no harm towards him. He had a funny story of where to find a fishing spot, we retold the funny story but I guess we did it in such a way that it looked as if we were mocking him. That was definitely not our intention and we would never purposely make fun of or make someone else feel bad, that’s the very last thing we would want to do. So I do hope that portion of this video is taken light hearted and we intended zero harm or disrespect towards anyone. I am glad it was brought to our attention so we know in the future that sometimes things don’t come off the same way on social media as they actually happen in real life and we will be more mindful of this from here on out.
@DShaw-dz3wc

We have always enjoyed your videos and look forward to them, but are a little disappointed in this one. A local guy gave you directions to his special fishing spot and you mocked him on the world wide web. Not cool. ☹️
@CoasttoCascadia
@CoasttoCascadia 2 жыл бұрын
We do apologize for that and didn’t mean any harm. We were just having some fun, and did it in a playful way. No harm intended at all. We thought his directions were funny and he was even a funny guy himself, good sense of humor. Had we realized it would come off as mocking or being cruel we would not have done it. We really did appreciate chatting with him, but his directions were amusing and not very clear at all, he was laughing and being funny about it as well. We were only playing around in an endearing way. I hope you continue to enjoy future videos and thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will be more mindful of of how our playfulness or humor can affect others. I guess not knowing the entire story or conversation it can come off negative.

Yay! Good to see you all out and about again. What a lovely spot! Somewhat surprised that you didn't need to deal with more snow. Here in the Bend area we had more snow cover than the past couple years and they are just beginning to open some of the trails in the mountains. Did you all encounter mosquitos? Our last visit to Diamond Lake there were a ton of them. But you didn't mention them in the video so maybe you are there early enough in the season? Looking forward to the rest of this trip. Hoping to get down in that area this year.

Yikes! You all did an awesome job of NOT FREAKING OUT and putting together a plan/process for how to deal with things. Good lesson learned about checking all the bolts that are part of your vehicle/trailer/etc and make sure you have even the weird ones. It has me thinking as well that if something comes with unusual nuts/bolts then I would think about replacing them with something more normal. Seriously, these manufacturers are building stuff for people to use out in the middle of nowhere they should use parts that are easy to work on. (They probably think it will be a deterrent to theft but there are better ways of doing that). Another lesson for me: I just went and put some "duct tape" in my always-with-me tool kit! And, seriously, if you all are ever stuck somewhere in Central Oregon, just reach out. I would be very willing to come help out. (Though I am sure there is tremendous satisfaction in having been able to fix the problem!). Finally, you have left me with a challenge. I absolutely need to find that campsite! ;-). "I'm from Austin, not Texas." LOL! I did look up the Skyway Bar and Grill. That is on our list. And one of our sons has friends in Sandy who they visit when they travel out from Colorado. I'm going to recommend they check it out!
@CoasttoCascadia
@CoasttoCascadia 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. We learned a lot of lessons during this trip. We have seriously considered replacing those bolts with ones that are more normal. By the time we were done with the hex key it was almost toast, not sure it’ll work for another go around. Thanks for the offer of reaching if we get stuck! We’ll definitely keep that in mind, hopefully won’t have to take you up, although it’ll be good to see you 😊 Hope all has been well with you and maybe we can meet up soon now that we’re able to get back out more often.

Beautiful video. The Met is not a great river to learn on, the water is super clear and the trout are wary. Experienced anglers can get skunked. I’d suggest not wading unless you need to, not only to avoid spooking fish but also for safety. The water is cold and flow can be heavy with a lot of drop offs. In central Oregon I would recommend the upper or lower Deschutes, or Crooked River. Fall River can be tough but not as bad as the Met. Very beautiful. Lakes out by Mt Bachelor are great. Don’t overlook small water like Tumalo Creek or Wychus, I like the adventure of getting up into rugged small creeks.

Very cool, Guys! If you end up going to San Juan Island and for some crazy reason decide to check out the pioneer cemetery, my great grandfather, Robert Higgins, and his wife are buried there. Good size red brick headstone. They homesteaded there after taking a wagon train to Oregon (my great grandfather was the trail boss). They tried to settle in Oregon but that didn't work. Went to Port Townsend in the hope of getting a job in the logging industry but it was just starting to go bust. So my great grandfather rowed a 14' skiff across the straight to San Juan Island, staked his claim, then rowed back to get his wife and all their worldly belongings. Once the settled on San Juan Island they had 11 kids. The youngest was my grandfather and my grandmother came from Orcas Island.

Yes! I’m not sure what normal rates are though, as this was our first time going. We also didn’t need reservations which was nice! I bet in the summer though reservations would be a good idea. You definitely need to go back. It’s a magical place.

@@CoasttoCascadia Regarding reservations. Absolutely necessary in the Summer. Especially with a trailer. May need to be made weeks in advance as so many people travel to the islands during that season. And that ferry from Port Townsend (one of my favorite places) to Coupeville is not large and therefore difficult to catch. That said, Port Townsend is not a bad place to have to hang out if you are waiting for ferry!
