That's pretty amazing stuff. We have a tendancy in our shop to get most of the material removal accomplished before hardening to reduce machine time. But I could see in certain applications when precision is of upmost importance you would want to do it this way in one setup. That is if this material isnt already pre-hardened from the steel yard. :)

HOCAM CAM PROGRAMI TERCİHİNİZ NEDİR? EDGECAM ? NXCAM?
@CNCMACHINIST.
@CNCMACHINIST. 4 жыл бұрын
Merhaba Ozan Bey.

9:00 some very impressive plunge milling with a very long arbour on that tool. But completely unnecessary as it's a 5-axis machine. Simply index the machine and machine from the side using a shorter more rigid tool!

high feed tools always run without coolant. the insert would break from thermal shock. air can be used to get rid of the chips but it doesn't really cool down the tool.
@jchelm1979
@jchelm1979 4 жыл бұрын
@@back2mind high feed tools do not always run without coolant. You can run high feed tools in aluminium and you would absolutely need coolant! Do not forget coolant does more than just cool, it serves 2 other very important jobs. It lubricates and it clears swarf from the cutting face. With the case of cutting steel, you do not need to lubricate the cut, the heat is removed with the chips and the air blast removes the chips that is why it is cut dry. Thermal shock absolutely plays a role with the use of coolant but it is only part of the answer in this case

@@jchelm1979 trochoidal milling in aluminium with coolant is definitely new to me, the companies around here and most videos I've seen so far never use coolant with this kind of tools. might be possible that there are a few aluminium sorts that need coolant but in general they run without.
@jchelm1979
@jchelm1979 4 жыл бұрын
back2mind firstly video's generally run minimal coolant with aluminium for cinematic effect. Secondly trochoidal milling is not magic. Aluminium needs lubricating! It sticks to carbide like shit to a blanket! You're clearly not a skilled and experienced engineer!

This seems like efficient paths, although the OD turning could use a little work to break up the long stringy chips. Also on the slotting op on the back side you could rotate the slot so it points down and so the chips fall out.
