The most important lecture on the history of modernity and Marxisim on the web. I just wish we had learned this in Kindergarten. 😅😅

If Nap III is origin of Bonapartism, and Bismarck is “German Bonapartism, and Gladstone & Disraeli is “parliamentary Bonapartism”-what is Lincoln? For sure TR is beginning of “American Bonapartism.” But where does Lincoln fit in? We know Marx was a great admirer. Is Lincoln a proto-Bonapartism? A kind of lag in the US due to a kind of lag in the Industrial Revolution? Through Grant on to TR?

Yes the “imperial presidency” begins with Lincoln in the Civil War and subsequent Republican Party. Already however there was Andrew Jackson and the subsequent Democratic Party. Both capitalist parties in the U.S. are expressions of Bonapartist. Louis Bonaparte in 1848 is central for what was revealed to Marx.

In the future we will look back and see we had all the information, all the knowledge and foresight to make our own timely creative descent. Thank you for broadcasting this message to the world - it is a positive message for all of us seeking to make permaculture stronger. ❤ Thank you kindly and continue being resilient!

Thanks for this talk! Although I always wonder Hobbes is just not limited to Political Philosophy only. I feel he is more of a sociologist too. Contracts between one with one and one with all is also an essential part to serve in formation of society as any form of treachery in contracts so formed can be disastrous for the society and the drivers which led to it's formation.

Unusually different non dogmatic searching tone from the interviewers without reducing the importance and relevance of the subject matter. Extremely useful in that it allows CC to express in a more personable way his intellectual depth and his understanding of the relevance and resonance that important issues have within the masses . Intellectuals can't cross the divide between the necessarily academic/ abstract and ordinary folk ? Nonsense.

guys thank u so much for bringing up Chris. A so interesting and unlike thinker, truly a not only the last marxist, but the last intellectual. and thanks for creating a so calm atmosphere for a good talking.. so much that chris even dare to make his provocative comment on 1619 project.. a comment that nobody else could do and it definitely has a core of truth

Listening to this interview is like going back in time for me. Debating tendencies in the CW, real nostalgia. Back in the 80s, as a teenaged anarchist, I got involved with the Berrigans and the CW, then converted to Catholicism, read Guardini and Ratzinger and Communio, etc. Tried to find a way to live out the vision, failed. Was forced to reassess my life many times over. Eventually realized all that was a dead end, left the Church. So I see you doing this and I want to warn you of the dangers ahead. But i guess you have to live it yourself. Good luck, I guess.

This was kind of hilarious. Spend the first 2/3s of the pod defending the unconvincing neofeudal thesis and then spend the final third envisioning a utopia where half the global population are agricultural workers 😂😂😂 What was it that Freud said about repressed desires? Im reminded of what Marx warned: “whoever pens a programme for the future is a reactionary”.

If you think we were merely defending the neofeudal thesis and simply want half the global population to be ag workers you really need to improve your ability to listen/think critically. Maybe we are full of shit/reactionaries, but not on the basis of this caricature.

@@spencerhess1312 just grabbed a few cotton buds cleaned out my ears and yeah that’s exactly what was said from 36:24 to spell it out for you, this is a neofeudal vision that puts Mackenzie Wark’s fever dream to shame

@@qaq89 I know what I said. To spell it out for you since you’re evidently such a good listener, your ability to accurately interpret what I meant is evidently what’s lacking. Marx must have been a program-making reactionary too: “For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic.”

@@spencerhess1312 I’m tickled that you think this section of the german ideology that elegantly provides a materialist account for the emergence of private property, thus implying the necessity for the dictatorship of the proletariat, is a programme that lends support to converting half the population into formally 'voluntary' farmers.

So we've answered this question as many times as you've tried googling it, times 100-- but we totally appreciate why people want to know. It's pastor Greg Thompson. We cannot find the original sermon that sample is from now, but you can find his sermons here: www.trinitycville.org/Sermons-And-Audio?category_set=3482638&filter_195=1119 and on KZfaq, etc. Thanks for asking.
