Great video and really appreciate the follow up with the swapped blade and different track. I was hoping to grab the cheap Lidl/park side plunge saw but it’s currently out of stock sp figure this would be a great alternative? I have some large 25mm MDF sheets to cut and would like to use a longer set of rails and a better blade. Would you mind providing links to your suggestions so I can order them at the same time as the saw?

Wood is not magnetic 😅 Are you fishing for screws or the joist hangers? Youre not clear about that... if there arent any hangers and youre fishing for screw heads, you could spend hours looking.

Very useful in being clear as to what upgrades are needed. This is same saw as the Ozito sold in Australia and yes, the same track edge that is curved instead of flat like the Festool or Makita!

Yes, I still have my trusty ozito breaker/hammer drill I bought when I lived in Aus

Search for Ozito parts and you go to Einhell in Germany. Einhell has its own-branded saw, it has a different model number and I think it has a riving knife.

This method is a lifesaver! However, how can I find the middle of the joist ? I would like to hang a hanging chair and I would like to make a hole in the middle of the joist to make sure that the screw will hold well and that the wood will not crack ,like, for example, I screw too much at the edge . Also , most hanging chair support screws are 7-8cm long, is this too long? I mean, is there a possibility of touching any cable passing through the joist? I would greatly appreciate your help.
@drewshouse5899 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, I can't guarantee you will get the middle exactly but the best chance you have is to find as many screws in that joist as you can. Put a dot on each then go for the average by using a straight edge and you will get very close to the centre. Hope that helps, let me know if I've explained it badly

I bought 2 differwnt stud finders. Lol I have a 3 car garage and hunging a 10ft strut rail to hung punching bags rings and a rope on my 8ft ceiling. I think I found joist. They running parallel to garage doors and are 24" apart, however after finding center of each joist they are 1" wide🙄 I tought they were at least 2" wide?? Iam using 3" 3/8 bolts.. Yeah this is identical to the Ozito I just got from Bunnings. I bought an extra 1500 track as well. I joined them all up (2 700s and the 1400) to make rips on 2400 sheets but you really have to calibrate the joins to make them straight. Which will be ok when I take time to run a string line and shim the joins. It's more work but at $250 NZD it's a no brainer. Just a longer setup to make it great. The 24 tooth blade is ok so far on MDF which surprised me.
@drewshouse5899 Жыл бұрын
A finer blade does definitely make a nicer cut though so worth investing, I have a 3 metre Makita track which didn't fit until I routed off the anti tip lip. Thanks for the comment

Just bought the same one in Wellington. Haven't used it yet. How have you gone with yours?
@peterelliott2914 Жыл бұрын
@@scrotiemcboogerballs4967 Outstanding! Like it takes some care, but I've just made 7 wardrobes cut off my plan and they went together within 1/4 mm. So if you're careful they're pretty exact. Just double check the straightness of the track often. The wee orange track adjustments are crucial to stop wandering. Take care in the weather there lol. From Chch.
@scrotiemcboogerballs4967 Жыл бұрын
@@peterelliott2914 sounds good.ive got a load of ply to cut up on Tuesday so will be the test. The orange track adjustments? Are they the adjusters on gherkin saw to keep it nice in the track?
@peterelliott2914 Жыл бұрын
@@scrotiemcboogerballs4967 Yeah. On the bottom plate (sole) of the saw. They're wee cams that run on the side of the raised channel bit of the track. They can bind on the track joins if they're too tight so do some test runs before you cut. And do a test cut first because the saw blade takes a bit off the plastic edge of the track on the first cut. And always use the clamps because the rubber grip bits under the track are crap lol. I bought a 40 tooth blade but haven't tried the one it came with.

Thanks for your comment, I'm a carpenter and have had the DeWalt, in my opinion it's a very bad design and a lot more expensive, mine stopped working after a very short time. The Ryobi is a far better tool and has given me no problems apart from a few miss fires when new
