Thank you! I wrapped a Soft Loop Tiedown strap around the barbell and attached it to my belt with a carabiner. The strap will prevent the barbell from getting scratches. Then lift the barbell and rotate it, so the smith machines hooks are out if the way. That’s it.

Nice Idea, but I would rather spend that time working out, instead of building a DIY leg machine every time I want to workout my legs. Valid point?
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 6 күн бұрын
I hear you, but we all have different space,economic, and time constraints…these constraints have changed for me since I made this video -and I now have a leg press, a smith machine, a better power rack, etc….so personally- I no longer use this option. However, this DIY option may still be a good option for others out there.

No dice. How is that thing more expensive than Rogue’s? Glad they sent it to you for free because no one in their right mind is going to spend $1k on that.
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 10 күн бұрын
@sbs7574 You sure you are comparing apples to apples? The Rogue version (which is all rubber tiles - no wood) after you add the band pegs and the smooth tiles is $1090 before shipping .$1389.99 after shipping (to St Louis). If you use my promo code…Using these figures, the Ritfit option saves you $400 (it is free shipping within the US).
@sbs7574
@sbs7574 9 күн бұрын
@@DesignBuildLift fair point. I guess if I wanted an Olympic platform like this I’d just buy the frame and use four stall mats. The wood insert wouldn’t be my thing. Also, a rule of thumb for me is that if I the cost of a MiUSA product is the same as of an import, as is the case here, I’d take the home made brand and pay the shipping.

What about carpeted floors? I recently moved to a new place, and I'm converting a carpeted family room to a gym. For resale reasons, I'd rather not remove or damage the medium plush wall-to-wall carpet currently installed. Will stall mats work? If not, does anyone have other suggestions? I'm not looking to cover the entire area (about 23×15), just under the 4-5 pieces of equipment, including a plated squat rack/functional trainer, treadmill, assault bike, and leg press/hack squat machine.

I used 3/4” thick horse stall mats over a Berber carpet in my first home gym. While it wasn’t ideal…it still worked fine and I still had great workouts.

How about for 5/8” hole racks?
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 15 күн бұрын
You can use 5/8” bolts or threaded steel to make a version of some of these items, but it will not be as strong. Being able to DIY attachments using heavier duty 1” materials is one of the reasons I went with the PR5000 with 1” holes instead of the PR4000 which has 5/8” holes.

You indicate that 80 inch uprights are 80 1/2 inches. Correct. Note that the 93 inch uprights are 92 inches. That inch makes a big difference to try to squeeze in the the larger rack into an 8 foot ceiling with a reverse mount multi-grip bar. By the way, the height on a reverse mount multi-grip on the 93 inch rack is about 2 1/2 inches higher than a regular mount multi-grip bar on the 80 inch rack.

Great video, best breakdown I have seen! My ceilings are 87.5".. so will need to do 80" uprights. Was debating multi-grip pull up bar (adds 2" height) vs straight bar (sits 2-3" under the upright).. do you have clearance? How high are your ceilings? If I invert the multi-grip, may sit too low on 80" upright and hit my head! Thoughts?
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 19 күн бұрын
Thank you, Eric! I really appreciate it! The top of the multi grip bar is 81.75" from the floor (per my tape measure). That leaves you only 5.75" for your head to peak above the bar before your head hits your ceiling. I personally don't think that is enough room (unless you have a tiny head like Beetlejuice). If you flip the bar upside down it COULD work if you are a short person. If you are not short - I would skip the Multi-Grip bar and go with one of the straight pull up bars. This should give you enough clearance for your head.

I, personally would rather have weight horns on top and additional on bottom. Higher up is more accessible for us older guys. Did you mention the type of bearings? Finally the pads look like junk…nothing personal but you get what you pay for when buying budget equipment. Also as far as saving space with weights loading underneath I would disagree because the footprint is what takes up space and if weights were loaded above they would still be within the footprint of the leg press. Loading weights standing up is so much easier than squatting down trying to reach under with a 45 plate or more. Thanks for the video
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 11 күн бұрын
I definitely agree that loading plates on top is easier. So its a tradeoff between having smaller footprint vs ease of loading.

I use my plank a lot for seal rows so I need to figure out if offsetting the hyper mount will allow both functions. Otherwise, I'll just make a separate bench.

The hyper attachment is detachable, and I placed its mount in the center of the board. So anyone should be able to do seals rows on this. Hope this helps.
