I don’t say it can’t cure the problem you describe, however be VERY careful with modding throttle slides, if that feeler gauge for any reason can move over time and jam the slide in open position you are in big trouble.

the slide plate is sucked into the tb like a vacuum even when the tb is worn its normally the slide plate that needs replacing it get rounded edges and not flat causing a vacuum leak around it

Good idea , I was trying to work out what would make a good smooth spacer. Having the same trouble on my drz 400. Couldn't find a carby anywhere and I now know the same carb is used on many different bikes. I was desperate so have ordered new slide and plate from Suzuki. Get ready for the kick in the balls, $385 for the slide and $265 for the plate. This is australian money, I sure hope it fixes the hanging throttle and stalling.

But the feeler gauge is too wide and comes into the carburetor's bore and the air flow.You have to grind it at the shape of the bore before you glue it on the carb's body.

Hey man, I just went through the same procedure in my carb. I am really curious to know if the plain 100% silicone held up. I am scared of the engine sucking in my shims and destroying itself. I also used a dremel on the feeler gauges so their is no blockage of the carb bore (the shims do not stick into the air/fuel channel at all). I would really appreciate you or anyone letting me know how this mod held up. Thanks

Hey, great idea !! I have a exc250f 2011 with a fcr mx39 flat and want to do this repair. I have problems with the engine choking up sometimes and the idle sometimes go up and sometimes go down (not constant). I already did a valve setup and every thing. was wondering if this should fix my problem and if i should tune the carb to the manufacture settings (original) or leave it like it is. thank you

Hey m8 nice idea. I have been trying to solve a similar issue where the idle hangs when set in high rpms, in addition to a very jerky transition from on/off idle. Also the throttle feels a lot heavier when the bike operates compared to when the bike is off where it can be twisted pretty smoothly. After operating the bike with the top of the carb off, it was obvious that, because of the horizontal free play(probably due to roller grooves), the suction would hold the whole slide body to engine side of the carb body, instead of just the vacuum plate causing the binding. So my question is : should not those fillers be placed on the engine side of the carb instead of the airbox side, so as not to push the body to the direction of suction? or do i have it all wrong in my mind? Ps: i ll try some wider 3D-printed rollers and if that doesnt work i ll probably try your fix.

Hey ! nice idea, i have the same issue, idle trouble, i bougth a plate on ebay, in aluminium, i hope it will not damaged the carb. Did you put this on each sides ? (4 pieces), in order to avoid the worn ? i think we should put 4 plates to protect the carb ?
@littlepig51501
@littlepig51501 5 жыл бұрын
Be careful with the cheap aluminum vacuum plate. They will excessively wear out your throttle bore. The factory plates are made from a carbon material designed to wear out before damage 8s done to the carb. Shimming both side I feel is defeating the purpose of remove air gap that is presented from a worn carb or plate if you get what I'm saying.

Good news. Installed this temporary fix and it fixed my massive hanging idle which was due to a very worn main body. There was a bit of a hiccup during the install. I separated the mid body joint to make gluing easier. Turns out you need to make sure the feeler gauges end about .100 from the mid body connection or there is an interference. Huge props to Cm.Uncensored 916 for making this video series.

I just test fit my feeler gauges and noticed they block the main thru air hole in the carb when the slide is full open. Did you bother addressing this issue?
@littlepig51501
@littlepig51501 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I used a tin snips and shaped them to the port. The snips will make a rough cut so be sure to flaten them back out. But honestly I left mine that way for months. It wasn't untill I needed to pull my carb again for unrelated issues that I address this, and I didn't notice a difference in how it ran. The outer hang into the bore was very minimal on mine, and didn't affect anything.. hope that helps.. most important just make sure your gages right on your shims so there's no hang up through entire range of motion.

@littlepig51501
@littlepig51501 6 жыл бұрын
D's Gaming & More try disconnecting throttle position sensor and see if hanging idle persist..if it goes away, then faulty or misadjusted..The bogging could be from misadjusted accelerator pump. The metal shavings in carb I'm not sure sounds like wear in carb or carb slide.

@littlepig51501

Also check condition of oring on vacuum plate that goes in front of carb slide..This too can cause hanging idle.. But it would be hard to start aswell..usually when oring goes bad or excessive slide slop or both together will cause an idle issue and your idle screw and fuel mix screw will make little to no difference when adjusting..It can also make a chipping noise or a tapping noise through the carb and this to is an indicator of that same condition.
@littlepig51501
@littlepig51501 6 жыл бұрын
D's Gaming & More on more thing to concider..if you've sprayed any kind of carb cleaner or solvent into your carb you can bet the vacuum slide plate oring has been ruined..they are super thin and very delicate. The cleaner will cause it to stretch and ripple and it will no longer seal.

How wide of a feeler gauge was put in between your slider? Mine I think was .014 or .016 in gap, if the gaps on both of our carbs are about the same then thats most likely the problem with my carb
