I've done this to my FCR. I've put one in each side. I have not tested in the street yet, but it seems to work. Thank you very much for the idea.

Good idea , I was trying to work out what would make a good smooth spacer. Having the same trouble on my drz 400. Couldn't find a carby anywhere and I now know the same carb is used on many different bikes. I was desperate so have ordered new slide and plate from Suzuki. Get ready for the kick in the balls, $385 for the slide and $265 for the plate. This is australian money, I sure hope it fixes the hanging throttle and stalling.

Leave it to a fellow pot head to save the day. I was in my engine to change the valves and piston, figured id clean the carb really good and honest to god didnt even know I had an issue. My symptoms were the same as yours.... Im wonder if this was part of my issue the whole time..

Would this also apply to a carb like the Keihin pwk38? Mine has the same slop in it. Bike idles and rides fine though.

A ton of bikes use this carb and lots of the parts are interchangeable. If you order the slide plate from Kawasaki (PN 16025) it comes with an o-ring gasket and is only $37.

Yeah ive replace the vacuum plate oring but it did not help.. I believe the slide it's self is worn. however I have not seen a cheap replacement slide. I didn't have the money nor the time to get one so I used what I had to get her to run right.. I'm still running this set up still to this day with no issue..

Do research and find seal for $15

But the feeler gauge is too wide and comes into the carburetor's bore and the air flow.You have to grind it at the shape of the bore before you glue it on the carb's body.

Was your bike idleing high? Mine is and this might help me.

Are you just leaving the feeler guage in your carb? Will it not move at every jumps or each time the bike falls?
@littlepig515016 жыл бұрын
vincnet010 yep leave them in and glue them with a silicone.
@littlepig515015 жыл бұрын
Yes I glued them in place with thin coat of silicone

What kind of adhesive did you use?

So the gap creates a lean situation??? I have never checked my fcr for the gap or no gap.???
@alexdeprez90943 жыл бұрын
I don’t say it can’t cure the problem you describe, however be VERY careful with modding throttle slides, if that feeler gauge for any reason can move over time and jam the slide in open position you are in big trouble.

I used an adhesive to fix mine in place. I been on this original mod for 3 years now and so far so good. But yes your very right it is posible

Has anyone else tried this with success? I'm having a hanging idle issue as well as a bogging issue on my 2008 Kawasaki kx450f.. All the jetting is stock as well as the rest of the bike.. Carb is clean, but when I first took the top off the carb to gain access to the slide there was aluminum shavings when I wiped it with my finger? Not sure what to do
@littlepig515016 жыл бұрын
D's Gaming & More try disconnecting throttle position sensor and see if hanging idle persist..if it goes away, then faulty or misadjusted..The bogging could be from misadjusted accelerator pump. The metal shavings in carb I'm not sure sounds like wear in carb or carb slide.

I'm still running this fix in my bike with no issues..

Also check condition of oring on vacuum plate that goes in front of carb slide..This too can cause hanging idle.. But it would be hard to start aswell..usually when oring goes bad or excessive slide slop or both together will cause an idle issue and your idle screw and fuel mix screw will make little to no difference when adjusting..It can also make a chipping noise or a tapping noise through the carb and this to is an indicator of that same condition.
@littlepig515016 жыл бұрын
D's Gaming & More on more thing to concider..if you've sprayed any kind of carb cleaner or solvent into your carb you can bet the vacuum slide plate oring has been ruined..they are super thin and very delicate. The cleaner will cause it to stretch and ripple and it will no longer seal.

How wide of a feeler gauge was put in between your slider? Mine I think was .014 or .016 in gap, if the gaps on both of our carbs are about the same then thats most likely the problem with my carb
