Usually I get mad at KZfaq blacksmithing videos. This one significantly less so. Those are the key operations, I can't argue (except of course with the myriad finer points, unnecessarily). To anyone watching this if the book reads like the video it's probably a decent buy for someone starting out.

who would make the nails, was it part of the skill progression...Were the Apprentices required to "master" nail making before any kind of other smithing... what was the progression, say A young lad was just setting out on his path to blacksmithing?

What kind of steel would you use to make the nail header? It doesn't seem possible to buy them over here in the UK.

How are those iron "rods" made that the nails are cut from? Would it just be metal poured into molds for that usage?
@jamiehughes5573 Жыл бұрын
Always remember to coat copper cookware/tableware they can leech copper into food if it is acidic and cause copper poisoning (yes copper is toxic in high concentrations)
@mande3110 Жыл бұрын
If you taper the end you set down and thin it a little before you cut it it will be a lot easier to do the times of the fork. Just clean the tapers up a little and shape them. Done
