Are you sure it's related to the version of Windows? Have you tried using another version of Windows, or the Linux version, and seen DXF work better under those circumpstances? That's really cool, if you don't mind me asking, what cam are you using to output the 5-axis g-code and what CNC host are you running the code through to the machine? Thanks
@ArthurWolf4 жыл бұрын
On that test, I was using hand-written G-code, and the Smoothieboard's web interface ( smoothieware.org/network ) to run it. As things have gotten more serious with the machine, for 5 axis work Fusion360 is being used, and either bCNC or Smoopi ( sometimes both at the same time ) are being used to control the machine/run the Gcode.

Thanks for the reply, I built a 5 axis gantry style robot running smoothieware and have been using hand-written G-code run through CNCjs for the extra two axis. Working on the next prototype right now, we just finished the design and ordered the PCBs and parts, should assemble soon. It took a bit more time than expected to do the redesign, some unexpected issues showed up, but most of them are fixed now, and we hope the prototype will confirm the rest are too. That's for v2-prime. For v2-mini we had to delay the work a bit due to the v2-prime work, but it's now nearly finished. Once the prototypes are assembled and fully tested, we can move on to actual production and shipping.

Still lying... the original smoothie v1 on kickstater used LPC1768, which your firmware now claims is a clone!!
@ArthurWolf4 жыл бұрын
Hey. What's the "still" about, do you have some other supposed lie you want to talk about too? About the LPC1768, it was only used on the beta boards, very very few of which actually ended in the hands of folks not part of the dev team or the kickstarter, in part because the company that was supposed to sell them at the time went bankrupt. Smoothie has been developed with the 1769 in mind for over half a decade now, likely won't work perfectly on a 68, and the warning message is just meant to reflect that, not sure what the problem is here.

help need example config for cr10s for v1 board guidance is needed thanks
@ArthurWolf5 жыл бұрын
You may be able to find this in the Smoothie forums. However, make sure you don't re-use the config file as-is, instead, you need to use the found config file as a source for values. But you need to take the example config file ( and flash the latest firmware while you are at it ) from the wiki, and edit it to have the right values ( instead of using the found config file ). This is important as if you are just re-using a config file without understanding it's contents, you are putting yourself in danger. You need to read the documentation and do your config based on the example one on the wiki. If you don't you are taking a significant safety risk. Don't use Smoothie without understanding it's documentation.

Hey Arthur! Any idea of a price for the V2 version? Im building a large industrial grade 3d printer with linear rails and servos. Im really hesitant on ordering the V1 smoothie when id rather the V2. Any idea of a release date? I also want to build a 5' x 10' cnc plasma table. Is there a way to change the measurements to a imperial inch in the software? If not that would be something to think about for the market in the states. Thanks for all your hard work!
@ArthurWolf5 жыл бұрын
V2-prime will be a bit more expensive than v1-4XC, v2-prime dual extrusion will be a bit less expensive than v1-5XC, v2-mini will be ( we hope ) around $70-80, and v2-pro will be well north of $200. That's the current estimates. Note v2 hardware will be beta at first kickstarter release, and the firmware will take a long time to mature to the level v1 is at after the kickstarter. I'd go with a v1 right now if this is a serious/work project, it's a very good board. Working on v2 kickstarter right now, hopefully starting in a week or two ( optimistically ). And yes there is a inch mode, it's very rarely used though, I could imagine there would be a bug with it nobody has noticed or something, but it's there ( and if you find a problem we'll fix it of course ).

Yeah I need to get rid of it in the long term. Thanks for the warning, I agree it's definitely bad long term.
