@mrkemblegilstrapАй бұрын
Ahahahaha, you are very kind to say 😊 It's my first use of a brushless motor setup. I had a bunch of trouble with cogging. Like 5 or 6 seconds of it with any throttle use. I changed the 7.4 volt 500 mah battery to a 7.4 volt 1500 mah that I had to repo out of the Challenger that I have down with body work and painting plans. Anyways, the 1500 battery helped a bunch and this is the video of that. I wrote to the Anything RC forum for help and they suggested a bigger battery and/or a change from the 6100kv motor to a lower kv motor. They also suggested I program the ESC for more start up power. I have had a program card for this for 6 months, but never tried it, or even had the slightest idea of how to use it, lol. I watched a pretty good video on my card and went in and changed the start power from medium to high. That, along with messing with the knobs on the remote got him running waaay better. Not perfect, but the best by far. With only an occasional 1 second lag. I took him downstairs to see what he would do. Man, he was doing burnouts and a bit of drifting. I had a good number of neighbors enjoying the fun. I live in a building with only people 62 and over living here. Those old people loved it. Me too. Well, for about 5 minutes. Then, he stopped and would only make a buzzing sound like a bee. Rats! I didn't make a video! I pulled it apart and the plastic gears were a bit worn but not destroyed. I noticed that the motor pinion gear had slid down the shaft and was almost rubbing on the motor. Which meant that only about a quarter of the gears teeth were actually meshing with the next larger gear. Just the edge basically. The forum suggested new gear ratio previously. But, I have no idea of getting replacement gears. I need 4 metal ones to replace the 4 plastic ones. I doubt that's gonna happen. This is just the original plastic live axle and gears in a toy. Sounding like a headache and a money pit. I already have a money pit in my C24. Someone else suggested to save the body and throw the rest away, lol. I may super glue the gear and see how long it lasts, but my expectations are low with the amount of wear already present. But, I just have all of these extra part laying around and thought to use them a bit and learn something to boot. I accomplished both. So, I'm fairly happy. I've got a Grave D i g g e r that's a bit smaller that needs all the same stuff. I may bounce over to him while I wait for a new motor for my C24, which I haven't even decided on yet. Did I tell you, I burned up his motor running in that water puddle the other day? My ESC wasn't waterproof. I told myself not to do it, but I've been messing with my C24 RTR. I wanted to leave him alone so I would always have one that actually ran, lol! But, I put a small lift kit, softer tires, metal diff covers, fresh grease and wheel weights out of the huge pile of stuff I have laying around. I'm still planning to make some battery packs. I made a test one the other day, out of some old batteries, and it worked great. They were old and lost charge a bit sooner than they should, but it was just an experiment. I've got 2 brand new laptop batteries to cut up. That's coming up pretty quickly. 🙂😁

Greetings! May I call you Mr. K13 for short? 😬 Sorry, my channel is still in it's infancy. I didn't have a mic yet in the beginning, and I'm a soft spoken person. ☺ These Lithium Polymer batteries or LiPo for short are categorized by their number of "S" for their voltage output. I'd like to think of it as batteries in series. So, 1 "S" is 3.7 volts nominal, fully charged are 4.2 volts, so a 2S LiPo is 7.4 volts, 3S LiPo 11.1 Volts, etc. You might see 2S2P, 2P means it's 2 packs soldered in parallel, for example 2S2P 5000mAh, meaning 4 batteries, 2 sets soldered in parallel, then soldered in series, each was 2500mAh. The internet can probably explain it better than me. 😂 Back to my truck and my modification in this video, the truck when it came out in 1999/2000, used to use 7.2volts NiCad or NiMH, which are close to the 2S LiPo battery voltage. I'm using a 3S LiPo, which has 50% more voltage, but the motor I'm using is only 1700KV. Meaning 1700rpm per voltage. The stock motors that were in the truck were 27T silver can brushed motors, which from recent discovery could go as high as 2500KV, 2500rpm per voltage. How I have the motor mounted skips an idler gear (40/15 compounded gear), and makes my 1700KV brushless motor spin faster than the 2500KV 27T, and then adding more voltage makes spin even faster. That's why I ended up breaking some gears in the process. 😅 That's what I'm investigating in my more recent videos. Thank you for watching!

@galkawarrior2 ай бұрын
@@mrkemblegilstrap Mr. Kem, the K13 came from the number of letters after the K in Kemblegilstrap... 🤣 So I was talking about the old 540 27T brushed motor silver can that came with most Tamiya Trucks. Brushed motors are rated by their number of turns, "T", the higher the T the higher their torque, the lower their RPM per voltage. Brushless motors are rated by KV, RPM per voltage. The higher the KV the higher their RPM, the lower their torque. So to answer your question, can a 2500KV motor run on a 3S LiPo? Simple answer would be yes, but depends on the application, and most importantly the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) capability. My first run in with brushless motors and LiPo batteries are when I started flying RC planes. I then applied that knowledge when I switched to electric RC monster trucks. No, I'm not a nuclear physicist. 🤣 I just had a lot of time on my hands at one point, and did some research on the hobby. Gay, straight, I don't care what you are! As long as your happy! 🙂 I'm happy to connect with people who have the same interest in hobbies as me. 😊

Nice vid man.... Those be Jugg 2 gears & housings.. the OG Jugg input shaft & gears in top of the diffs were smaller and the top shaft isn't that long (the reason why Tamiya offered upgraded parts for the OG Jugg and wny it was only available for a month or 2) That was fixed for the Jugg 2 (hence 2000 molded on the parts). Now lets get into the noise, have you found the problem? If I were you, I would buy extra parts before trying to mod a part that a Japanese engineer could come up with.. With parts being hard to find or costing you a nut to buy, I wouldn't be cutting or drilling a part that I couldn't replace if things go bad (I was an auto tech for over 20 years), I look forward to see how you can seal those diffs, with all "open" spots and not being machined to a tight tolerance, aside from filling the diffs with RTV, I can't see them being sealed. Are you running full "2000" axle tubes, axles, diffs & diff gears?? That was the weak spot in/on the OG Jugg.. Tamiya pulled the truck from store shelves in a month and offered free up-grade parts (with proof of purchase) to the "2000" marked parts and are the same in the Jugg 2, TXT-1 and TXT-2.. Thanks you for watching Uncle Bob! I bought the parts tree for the stock link arm (it came with a left and a right) the same time I did the replacement chassis, but like I mentioned, the project got halted when the tub cracked on me. Like I said, I didn't even think I torqued the ball connector that much. My screw driver doesn't fit that well in the slot and it would slip first before I get the chance to really crank down on it. I did put blue thread locker on the ball screws, but I waited a little for them to dry. I went ahead and bought another chassis tub today, but I'll still try to fix the broken parts and/or experiment if I can strengthen them, so I can apply it to the new parts. I'll share the out come, whether it works or not. 😊

@@galkawarrior No worries my Clod Buster Brother.... I can't help but notice those stock shocks, Black Edition shocks (axle guards too)... Too bad the OG truck got gutted, probably worth a few bucks (hundreds), good news, Tamiya is ReRe'ing the Black Edition Clod and my wife don't know I'm buying at least 2 kits... LOL
@galkawarrior4 ай бұрын
@@UncleBobsRC 🤣😂🤣🤙🏼 I try to sneak small packages by my wife, I don’t know how you’re going to sneak 2 Clods!!! Yup, I knew they’re getting Re-Re’d this year. The Black edition is the second best color scheme IMO, next to the original. I wished I could afford to get one, but I would probably rather save for a TXT-2. I almost pulled the trigger on an Original LMT, but again, I don’t currently have the funds for a big ticket item. The red shocks and axle guards I got are actually vintage. I have four of the eight that came with the vintage truck, and the faded color matched. 😅 I couldn’t wait for the Re-Re to come out, but I’ll see if I can snag a red parts tree from Tamiya if possible.

@@galkawarrior I buy, then ask for forgiveness, it's easier than asking for permission... LOL. I have 2 TXT-2's and an OG Clod, A Super Clod, A Thunder Tech Ripper Pro Race Chassis Clod and 2 Gray Clods as of now (sold and gave away about 14 Clods).. Sold off my OG Juggernaut & TXT-1 years ago... Start saving for a TXT-2.. they ain't cheap if you find one.. I was talking about the Black Clod shocks you have... However, the Black Edition Clod uses Red parts, The black shocks and bumper guards are from the Chrome Edition Clod #58423, the one I never got!!!

Thats weird how that chassis cracked. You might want to try sending Tamiya an email and telling them what happened. Maybe they will warranty it for you and send you a new one. Looks like you have some cool projects.

Thank you so much for subscribing! The Juggernaut is my favorite MT from Tamiya's line up, the Clod and TXT-2 are even 2nd place, although I have two TLT-1 which introduced me to the solid axle MT. If you watch the build series, you'd see how my Juggernaut is powered by a single brushless motor. 😃

@@UncleBobsRC I’m flattered that you watch my videos. Channels like yours inspired me to start mine. I’ve watched all your TXT-2 videos. If or when I can afford a TXT-2 I’ll definitely snag one. You might want to invest in a 3D printer if you don’t have one already, you might be able to just print out those parts. Did I mentioned I’m working on a limited slip diff for the Clodbuster using 3D printed parts? TBH, I’m not limiting myself to Tamiya though, them LMTs sure are very capable MTs and have lots of upgrades available currently. But I feel like I’m cheating the game if I get one of those… 😅
