Do a pitch your comfortable with, then just drop it lower and lower until you get that gravelly vocal fry.
@seattlevoicelab
@seattlevoicelab 5 күн бұрын
To find a pitch you can hum down from a high note to a low note. Then come up a little higher than your lowest note. If you can't make vocal fry then just say "gah" and try to move it back to try to make the sound "gah" sound nice and deep. Then using that deep sound and space, speak one short sentence, like "Hey, whats up?" and slowly add onto that sentence, like a coffee order or something. Small steps, big spaces.

This is one of the best video if you already have learn the vox fem, only she didnt go deep, but that is the whole thing. When you do the innnnhhh sound your larynx will raise to give you a feminine like voice, thought it sound buzzy, then just try to carefully reduce the buzziness and relax a bit you have a feminine voice. because no one talks about the combination of the getting the buzziness of, nor does anyone emphazise why you need that buzzy sound to learn faster. I learn these things the very hard way. most people are terribly bad at teaching anything esp on the internet. But this little video cover all the tools to get a perfect fem sound. But of course you must pratice like you lost your mind, that is another thing no one tells you.

We appreciate your affirmation that this is a good video! Thank you for that! Speaking to the rest, we find it is best to have a one on one coach, so people can get all of the information that is so hard to come by.

There are many factors to consider, this is true. Try breaking it down into steps. Practice one step one week, then another the next. In a month you will be much closer to your goal than you were before!

I think the problem with trying to do quick tutorials like this is that the person giving them always has years of experience that they're trying to condense into something accessible. It just doesn't work because the person giving the lesson doesn't *really* know how they got there, they just found what worked and kept doing it. That's why coaching and/or obsessive practice end up being more useful, because you actually workshop the voice while ignoring the technical stuff.

Wait your saying I've been transvoicing this whole time? Haha. I did notice how I naturally feminized my "photo face" in so many of my post puberty photos by raising my eyebrows and opening my mouth.. it's like no matter how much the 'man' vessel tried, the spirit knew what looked and felt correct. It was often that and as time went on it became always RBF with my eyes doing all the talking.

The smaller something is, the brighter it will be. The larger something is, the darker it will be. When we say "E" our mouth is in the smallest, brightest vowel shape. Play with trying to keep this small shape as much as possible as you say the other vowels (oo, o, i, a, etc). Happy practicing!

Is this possible to do with like an insanely high pitched voice 😭
@seattlevoicelab
@seattlevoicelab 15 күн бұрын
Even if you feel your voice sits very high you can still make a step towards a lower pitch and a darker sound. It is mostly about how dark the sound is and less about how high the pitch is. The larger your instrument is, the darker it will be. To begin this process you can start with a "gug" sound and see how deep and booming you can make it, even on higher pitches!

It's really kind of interesting to me how much the 2nd option for the larynx stuff doesn't make sense to me (the tongue one kind of does, but I'm tongue-tied soo..). Not that I don't understand in a literal sense what the idea is, but that I find myself at a loss at the very beginning on trying to implement the idea "pretend to choke". Makes me wonder if it's something to do with me being autistic and having very poor body awareness. Brains are fascinating.

@seattlevoicelab 18 күн бұрын
No worries! Really its about sound. So, on the same pitch lets say G3 - you can find it on google - try to make a dark sound and then a bright sound. Try saying the days of the week and make one sound dark and one sound bright. The ear is the first thing to train. Be sure to record!

Your larynx might be high already! Possibly though, you need to target the root. Think of it more like a lift of the tongue, not a pulling out.

I love how wholesome this is... But I don't know what tone is. Keep being great though <3
@seattlevoicelab
@seattlevoicelab 23 күн бұрын
Tone can be the adjectives of the voice. When you think into the future how do you want someone to describe your voice? Is it warm, gentle, spunky, deep, robust, laidback? Start to play with the characteristics of your voice and you will begin to modify the tone. You do this all the time already. When you talk to a puppy your voice tone changes. When you are reprimanding someone your voice tone changes. Your cognitive (thoughts) commands are usually the first step in your vocal tone. Think and become (: Happy voice journey!

@seattlevoicelab 23 күн бұрын
No problem! Our curriculum is built so you can create a deeper tone without T. Start say "GUG" and see how deep you can get it to sound. Remember, you will NOT have to lower your pitch that much. It is a small step in pitch and a big step in resonance. After you find a comfortable, deep "GUG" sound. Try reading with that same deep tone. Happy practicing!

Haha that is my natural voice and I own it because I know why my voice is like that. To raise it would be masking or acting. On the flip side, if I hear a girl talking too soft and high I suspect she has been subjected to too many toxic male authority figures. (See “Fundie baby voice”.) Learning why voices are high or low or loud or soft could help you decide when to adjust your voice for character beyond just “male/female”.

I can’t get it to work, how do I slow the rate of air down?
@seattlevoicelab
@seattlevoicelab Ай бұрын
"One way is to decrease the amount of pressure you apply to the air in your lungs via the diaphragm. When you exhale (speak) try holding your abs as if you are doing the plank, or are lifting something heavy. Your belly may pulse out a bit when you do this. I would say, breath in make a grunt "ugh" sound in your lower range and push the belly out with your abs as you make sound. This will decrease the amount of pressure you are applying and will slow down how quickly the air is being projected when you speak." - Hannah

when i try to raise my larynx, i find my throat tightening up and it being difficult to untense the muscles. how can i stop this?
@seattlevoicelab
@seattlevoicelab Ай бұрын
Try to focus on tongue placement (bringing the tongue forward) like an "E" shape for now as opposed to "lifting the larynx" which may be adding extra muscle tension. Make sure to always warm up your voice before practice too (look up some SOVTEs and encorporate lip trills and pitch glides). If pain and muscle tension persists, you should seek out an ENT or SLP to see if there's an underlying vocal health disorder.

Dude. I never realized that as a woman I do break into falsetto half the time to emphasize things. Like “I dunno” in falsetto. It’s mind blowing. 🤯. I feel Like dudes do more of a sideways “i dunno” or mumbling throw away “I dunno”. Very neat stuff. It’s weird how being raised a girl trains you to be all lilting and sing songy and being raised a boy trains you to be all mumbling or loud.
