Hi, thanks for video. I have replaced as per your instructions but unfortunately my door has locked in the open position. Any tips to close it and prevent it from jamming open? Thanks

Not an easy job on most T5s and mine was no exception. The bolt on the inside would not budge ans the two holding the door pull cable cannot be accesses easy if they round off. Really poor bolts that should be replaced with normal type if you manage to get them out.

I’ve just received the same kit. How did you get your door cards off, mine won’t move (I’ve undone the screws and took handles off)?

am going to try peltier module cooling for my yacht as can pick up mudule kit for around 16 pounds then all you need is insulated box section and put the pelteir in the square hole and can use good size on the cheap

Hi, Just a quickie, you connect a thermostat to the call to heat wire by supplying with 12v signal, what about the internal inlet temp sensor? will you have to disable that for the new thermostat to work?

Great video! Very informative. Can I add that all the bolts supporting the door are spline heads. I used a Torx bit on my van before viewing your video and rounded the head of the bolt. Thankfully after viewing your video I used the mole grips to loosen the rounded bolt.

We have the same cool box, was thinking of fitting stat for our boat. It pulls about 3.6 amps. Does the speed controller not slow the fan in the cool box lid as well? As this was 3 years ago is it still working? Thanks.
@scoellphotography
@scoellphotography 8 ай бұрын
Hi so it's still working fine, yes the speed controller will slow the fans down in the lid, but it also reduces the efficiency of the peltier so it doesn't matter, bare in mind that the change might not be liner either so half the power dialed in on the speed controller won't equal half the cooling efficency, it will likely be a lot less efficient.. It will however try and maintain the coolness opposed to switching it off whilst saving your battery at night whilst helping to quiet it down..

Good to have some reports. I have the halfords 40ltr as well and have been tweaking it to try and increase its performance. I replaced the peltier unit, added a second hot extract fan and a voltage increasing adapter to increase all fan speeds. Obviously that makes more noise but not too much. It cools better now but will test around 4.5 hour run and compare. Next step is to duct AC air into the unit so hopefully the ambient air at say 16c means I can get the internal temp down to maybe 4c. In all honesty because the same size peltier cooler is used in 24ltr coolers and my 24ltr easily gets to 8c I would suggest buying 2x 24ltr coolers might be easier to site in your vans as well, also gives you a larger overall size (48 ltrs)

If only you believe... don't kid yourself. To clean the intake manifold it is necessary to remove it. Then you can scrap most of the carbon build up out. The next step is to get a air compressor with a blow gun. mount a copper tube to gun. The tube needs to be several feet long. With a 90 degree bend in the end. Place manifold in a secure manner with the intake opening to the bottom. (Remove the EGR valve first). Get a gas torch and point torch into the lower opening. This will ignite the carbon. Once the carbon is lit spray air into opening. Flames will rise from intake runners. Burn until all the carbon has been consumed. Use a long flex able wire brush to finish cleaning inside of manifold. Pull rest of intake system to clean. Once it is clean you can run spray cleaners every 25k of so. I have 2000 vw Golf 1.9L TDI with over 400K on it. Just went through this dance. Intake manifold was 40% blocked.

I use one and have done lots of experiments . I run a DC to DC buck converter and you can reduce power consumption by running it at lower voltage. Eg run 7.5v during day, and 5.5v at night
