Looks great ! What would be very helpful is to set up a Vulcan mind meld so that I could become as proficient at the post processing as you are ! haha ;-)...I have a lot of learning to do in this department which is not as easy as it used to be considering I'm twice your age or more. But it's all just for fun with me, so I guess I will take it as it comes. Well done, you made that look easy. Cheers from the high desert in Utah.

I'm going to go after this target tonight and use the D1 and then D2 Askar filters. I have yet to use them as I have only had them a couple of weeks now, so we shall see how it goes. My scope is an Edge 8 with reducer with the ASI294mc pro and I'm out in SE Utah under bortal 3/2 sky's. I may spend two nights as needed, but you have inspired me to give it a try. Thanks and Cheers from Utah ! ;-) ( I will add you to my subscribed list ! )😀

Apologies for my ignorance, but i want to know. The two file sets you uploaded onto WBPP was from a OSC camera just using a narrow band filter such as the ZWO Duo Band? This is new to me so im trying to figure how you got two sets of data from a OSC 😅

Bummer, I sold $7 million worth of stuff there between 2006-2011
@jimcollins19223 күн бұрын
I had been using key words with WBPP for processing the different filters and was not really aware of the custom option which is very nice. If you have not investigate the DBXtract script you should as it simplifies processing after WBPP as it does away with all the need for pixel math. It takes the two output images from WBPP and produces 4 image, the HA, SA, OIII, and a combined SHO. Quick and easy. I usually then just take the SHO image and run the narrowbandnormalization process and proceed from there. I follow basically a very similar process that you use for stars. Very good video.

I’ve got me recently the Askar D2 filter and I already have the L-enhance. So I can make two master files. Wouldn’t it be easier to just use de DBextract script that give you the Ha SII OIII without the need of splitting the channels and using PixelMath? Or is the quality not the same?
@OuttenAstrophotography3 күн бұрын
I just like to do it manually and it works well when I do so. I can apply my own weights through pixel math and don't seem to have any issues with it. But I'll look into that DBextract because I'm not that familiar with it

Loved the video, just some small comments and questions. WBPP was awesome to see how to run 2 different filters at once. For extracting your SII OIII Ha couldn’t you use the script DBxtract? Or isn’t the quality as good? And for DBE there is a script from SETI Astro that has a ADBE that works great. I also have the Bill Blanched stretch things but I have also one for rescreen the stars so I don’t need PixelMath

Thanks a Ton. You make my life a lot easier. Any amount of thanks will be too less. I notice you use Bias Frames also. Lot of guys tell me that with an Astro scope and Astro Camera, Bias frames not needed. Also you not using DarkFlats, are these really needed. Guys tell these should also be taken. Every session I have been taking Flats and DarkFlats. Much later when you use SPCC, you using L Ultimate into three locations for SONY CMOS, but if one used Askar D1 and D2 then what does one do ? Now you have got me going, PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO FOR ow to use Mask ( Range Selection), AdvSharpen1.2.1 to reach the super fantastic final image you posted. PLEASE. Is it so easy to follow precisely what you are explaining. And let me assure you, I will not get bored. I am unable to figure out how to integrate Bills Stretch Unlinked V6 into Pixlnsight.
@OuttenAstrophotography8 күн бұрын
Dark flats are not needed because you are already doing darks for your lights anyway. Dark flats ate mostly helpful if you have a sensor with amp glow. Got me with a 2600mc pro i dont gsve that issue. Bias frames absolutely you need to be taking. You can take those once every 6 months or so. Bias frames help to remove readout noise from your sensor. Helps clean things up. I personally do atleast 60 or 100 of those. And yeah and suggestions for videos make a list and I'll get on them. Looking to always help
@rameshtahlan8 күн бұрын
@@OuttenAstrophotography many thanks for that advice. I am using ASI294MC Pro, at 300 sec it has a pretty good Amp Glow. Hope one day I can afford the 2600MC Pro. So I guess I will have to take DarkFlats.And about the Bias frames, noted, will do that, will take a 100 of those, place in a Library Folder for use. 1. Please make a video of how to process Mask with Range Selection. 2. A video on how to sharpen with AdvSharpen1.2.1 3. How to integrate Bills_Stretch_Unlinked_V6 into Pixlnsight. 4. Please make the Second Part of your present video, no matter how long. After you use NarrowBandNormalisation, where you enhance your image. The image at end of NarrowBandNormalisation and the image you put up after enhancing, are a world apart, the enhanced image just pops out of the screen, amazing. If I can manage 50% of what your final enhanced image looks like, I will be more than happy.

So your video Motivated me to go for Askar D1 D2 rather than make a hole in my pocked and go of MONO. Thanks a ton. Was lucky to get the D1 and D2 filters. Last night got an open sky in the monsoon season, and grabbed 12 subs D2 and 4 subs D2. All 300 seconds. Will grab more when opportunity strikes. Your video starts with the stacked images of C1 and C2. So do I stack them separately, and then load them into Pixlnsight for processing, OR do I put everything into PI and PI will give me two separate stacked images ? Since your reply will come much later, I am right now stacking them separately. Will see how I progress. Patiently await your advise.
@OuttenAstrophotography11 күн бұрын
Good choice going with the D1 and D2 sets they are phenomenal filters. So in the stacking process you can do it in the same WBPP session but you got to make sure you go into the "ADD Custom" to assign the lights and flats for each filter. Sometimes wbpp won't do it automatically. Plus it helps when the auto crop happens it plate solves and star aligns the both images for you. Just one less step to do =P

@@OuttenAstrophotography I am really dumb in this. Would it be possible for you to make a video to show how to set it all up in Pixlnsight after which one can hit the RUN icon. Would appreciate it. Great video. Thanks. I do have a question about mono vs. OSC. If you dither all your subs which shifts the RGGB matrix around the target aren’t you greatly reducing, if not eliminating the mono advantage? For example, when dithering each blue pixel on your sensor is being moved to a different area of the target with each sub. So if you shot an hour each of R, G & B with mono is it really different than shooting three hours with an OSC and randomly dithering each sub? I’ve been unable to find a clear answer to this question. (I also drizzle 2x per PixInsight’s recommendation and it does improve the image.)

The fma180 is a solid choice. I had the fma135 before I got my rokinon which did a good job. But the biggest issue I had with it is the back focus and the smaller imaging circle. So the edges with my aps-c sensor suffered pretty bad. But with the 585 you should be petty good with the smaller sensor. But if you ever go for the rokinon do it. Having the speed down to f/2 is a world of difference in light gathering.

I note that my PI version is newer than what you were using when you made the video. I am currently using 1.8.9.2. Would you know if this may be related to my issue? Your video starts with the two colour images, and then you apply DynamicBackgroundExtraction, SO After you load the two Stacked Images which would be dark, did you apply STF which has the Nuclear Thumbnail, or the ThumbNail on the top menu which has a Monitor image with the Nuclear Thumbnail at bottom right corner, and that is how we get the two colour images, where you video starts ?
