Will you sell me fig cuttings of this variety? ( Rond de Bordeaux) I am in The Raleigh area.

FIY for whoever might be interested. I wanted something more permanent for my perennials that wouldn't rot after time being in wet soil and found this video using soda cans and metal coat hangers. You can also then make it more clear by using a paint pen. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ed2PdciLqLrIj58.html. Normally I use plastic knives as my labels, reusable with nail polish remover. But they're shorter and sometimes disappear over winter. This way I can have something longer (and bigger) staked into the ground that's not going anywhere. Happy gardening!

This is mean killing ants that did nothing wrong especially the native ants think of an ant as a human and you just ended their life an innocent insect that did nothing wrong and ppl who are mad at me for saying this clearly don’t have a conscience

So is that insect netting you have over those tomatoes? The shade cloth link goes to the black ones, which seem too dark for tomatoes.

Is there anything I can add to my soil for next years crop. We lost 20 plants this year, or more, luckily we got some fruit to make into stuff and can. Thanks for any help!

Man those look great. I was just out looking at my two trees and one is loaded but not ripe at all the other same age and size next to it has 3-4 on it. I need to study up on dormant season maintenance I guess. Didn’t trim them last year now they are huge

Do you have a defense against squirrels? Losing a lot of tomatoes and figs to the tree rats this year! I have been using the organza bags the last 2 years and they work great against birds but the squirrels just take the bag and tear a hole in it to get the fig.

Try using the clear hinged clamshell containers that strawberries are sold in.

I leave around 1/4-1/3 of the grapes for the birds. The huge flocks of robins especially like them. I can't use all the grapes, anyway. Same with the other fruit. I like bringing the birds back every year. We have over 60 types that cycle through.
@dfreak015 күн бұрын
I'd hate to try to get that over my mature fruit trees & I'm not bagging thousands & thousands of individual fruit. 🥺 We've been encouraging Chickadees and putting out coddling moth traps. Only a couple of apples had worms this year. Last year they all did.
@amyk60285 күн бұрын
Great idea! It’ll take me quite a bit of time to bag ALL my tomatoes & peppers but it’s worth it 👍🏼

I use that on my pears, apples & especially on my strawberries! chipmunks love strawberries & they'll do anything to get that sweet ripe berry! they are a pain!

Yes I do this too. You can also use these bags to dry seed pods.

Great idea & video 👍 I hang mesh/organza bags inside my home to dry my harvested herbs (smells great!) I also use them at the grocery store for produce to reduce waste
@kypie86 күн бұрын
I’ve also heard that if you leave out multiple dishes of water/bird baths, etc. The birds are less inclined to peck at your produce. Apparently it’s because they’re thirsty & looking for water so they go for the nearest source- your fruits & veggies!
@dfreak015 күн бұрын
I have tons out! The bees & wasps love them, too. The neighbor's honeybees took over one birdbath. Hint: DON'T clean the one the bees favor. They need the minerals from the buildup.

I have what may sound like a dumb question BUT, I am a brand new (1st yr ever) gardener. If I bury my kitchen scraps (like you did in a previous video) will the cucumbers seeds from the cucumber scraps germinate & come up? I don't want extra cucumbers plants all over my raised bed, Lol TIA
@dfreak015 күн бұрын
They might. Those plants that do should be more vigorous so you can seed save from them & they'll be acclimated to your area.

You use these by themselves in fl , the wasp ,still stung my Peaches. This by itself wont work
@2MinuteGardenTips6 күн бұрын
The full method is to bag fruits with organza bags and then cover with insect netting. There is little chance a wasp can get through that.
@valchris116 күн бұрын
@2MinuteGardenTips I am not going to net these trees . I am trying some packaging material along with the organza next yr. My trees are over 7 ft tall.

I used them this year on my apples and my peaches. The bags worked well for my apples but not so much for my peaches. Bugs were able to lay their eggs on the inside, and it killed my peaches.
