Lana's aesthetic in this clip is all Betty Grable and other stars of the 1930s and early-1940s, not Marilyn Monroe as suggested here at 1:27. The hairstyle is a carbon copy of Betty Grable and so many others from that era in Hollywood. Wrong decade for a shout out to Marilyn (which Lana does in "Candy Necklaces," along with a nod to Veronica Lake).

Now come to think of it, Nancy is kind of like the female Anakin Skywalker in a way that both have tragic stories but with different motives. And both wanted to do good but backfired badly.

I see a lot of references to the wizard of Oz, with this taking place with some 1930's aesthetics. Plus the tornado, very interesting....

Well done. I always hated Sandy's makeover in "Grease" or other makeovers. The character's looks were always changed unrecognisably and suddenly life was alright. Elle didn't need a makeover. Her surroundings did.

You don't know wtf you are talking about. It's about a same sex relationship. I'm on the run with you my sweet love. That's the starting line. She is talking about loving a women. She talks about her sexual fluidity.(I'm in the wind, I'm in the water. Nobody's son. Nobody's daughter) the women are having sexual relationships in the night. And when they are finish they return to their beds. One went to a bed with a man(her husband that she returned to). Two others went in a bed together and lana returned to her bed alone(she has noone.. she sings about it a lot). But your analysis is not an analysis at all its just stating observations
@stephanierosecarter2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for the comment! The beauty of art is that everyone has different interpretations. I see where you are coming from and find your interpretation very interesting! I would have loved to have seen a music video that explored this narrative 😊
@shamarmittelholzer29852 жыл бұрын
u didnt have an interpretation. u just stated observation. but the first line gof the song gives away the meaning but u didnt get it. interpret that
@stephanierosecarter2 жыл бұрын
I think you’ve misunderstood the meaning of ‘interpretation’, but also this isn’t a lyrical analysis. I’m strictly talking about the music video, the filmic techniques, and the story that they tell. I don’t understand why that is so upsetting to you? If you don’t like it, watch a different video!
@shamarmittelholzer29852 жыл бұрын
You've completely misinterpreted the visuals when the audio tells the story. You can have a wrong interpretation of something. Like your video.
@stephanierosecarter2 жыл бұрын
This is hardly a productive conversation. In one comment you’re saying I don’t have an interpretation, the next you think I do have an interpretation but you think it’s wrong. As I said it is subjective. Also, this is a channel about film & visual storytelling.

Good video but it has some flaws: 1) Thigh High Boots are actually recommended for petites in general since they lengthen the legs rather than shorten them and 2) The examples show are not midi length skirts, but rather below the knee. There's a difference. Midi is supposed to hit way lower. I don't think Ariana would wear midi length skirts.
@stephanierosecarter2 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie! Thanks for the comment! ☺️ I do believe Ariana contributed to long boots being seen differently! As for the midi skirts, one of them is above the knee, but the rest are below the knee!

such a woke bad interpretation. I don't see any unity and freedom between women there . All I see is a bunch of sex slaves who enjoy dystopia , speaking the truth about the NWO. They are saying that the elites have always worked united against humanity. This is so far from the woman spirit. They are demonic entities who enjoy biting the lemon of dystopia. They sold their souls for a crappy career . By the way they are showing chemtrails . You seem to ignore that of course because wokeness is all about the agenda.

I just had a kind of depressing thought.. if Ariana Grande had an ugly face and a not so perfect body, nobody would care about her (or at least not NEARLY as many people), even despite her flawless fashion sense, amazing talent and beautiful music. I am not exempt from this, I think her beauty is what draws me to her too, she's just fun to look at and adore.
