I don't play AC or souls-like games really as I prefer more casual or multiplayer experiences. The boss is a challenge overcome for me regardless of him being nerfed which is why made the video. For someone with more experience then yeah it's more impressive for them having beat original Balteus.

No, they've definitely nerfed some bosses to make them easier, and the mechanics give you a lot of wiggle room. Still, it's tricky for someone like me who games more casually.

Interesting build, I'll be sure it give it a try. Once I learned how to properly dodge his attacks it got pretty smooth for me, being up in his face constantly are his little missiles still a big threat or does it make it harder for them to track you?

They're not as much of a threat for me personally, from what I remember. Usually when Balteus fires the salvo, he's already moved. So when he's far, I QB forward and to the left or right and it let's me avoid damn near the whole salvo easy. As far as up close, if Balteus isn't moving then the best idea is to circle left or right, quick boosting in that direction to avoid specific attacks or clusters of the salvo As someone who's put 130 hours on PC and a good 60 hours on Xbox, it's one of those fights that as soon as you beat it, you're a better player. Then when you go back on your second playthrough you'll realize just how easy it is. Also, keep close to him. As soon as he gets farther he's got enough armor to mitigate your weapon's damage, plus once the shield's down he only has so long that you can possibly get a second stagger out of it, so keeping pressure is key

It took me like 8 or 9 attempts total, I eventually understood how to counter him properly, just have to get past my initial phase of being flustered lol

I have a bad habit of picking one ideal build and just trying to stick with it (that's dumb I'm aware). In the end I made my setup work and got him, but it was after this I realized songbirds are amazing.

@KingsNerdCave songbirds are great. As for using one build, there is a build that I found is pretty good for almost everything. Once you unlock the chain guns you'll understand.

the assualt armor is better you can use it as anti-burst but even more helpful if you stand right on thema nd use it its instantly puts them in "break" state. And there are certain weapons that do better against shields. @@KingsNerdCave

You only unlock that stuff after Balteus though so first time play through your stuck with a unmodified AC until chapter 2.

If only it's as simple as you say, but that's a good mindset to have. I've never played an armored core game before so I'm not used to mechanics like this. But as I kept facing it I got better.

@erdCaveThis is it's own thing where prior AC games were different in one way or another. But one bit of advice is that any weapon that has the world "Pulse" in it is the best at countering a pulse shield where as everything else is with it's impact damage. As well as playing the video for each firearm, the linear rifle and shoulder laser gun can be charged for maximum damage but will need to cool down(takes a few times for the linear rifle) as well as make you stand still when firing unless equipped with tetrapod or tank legs.
