Awesome tutorial! Do you think you could go over how you made the cute little ui sounds that we hear at the beginning of the video? I'm practicing making these with synthesis playing with pitch modulation but still can't nail that bubbly/poppy sound yet. Thanks!
@christiandervishi8 күн бұрын
Thank you! So the cute UI at the beginning was done by using the sounds made with the template until 7:50. If you have Ableton you can probably load up random collision/tension presets that are included with the DAW and fine-tune them to your liking. Just this will already make 60% of the work. If you want to have a bubblier feeling to it you can probably feature 2 of the 5 (or if you have more instruments, 40% of them) instruments for making bubbly sounds. I'd suggest to have 1 to make a single low bubble sound, in order to cover the low end part, while the 2nd instrument could cover higher bubbles. Let me know if it was clear and if you ended up with cool results!

@@christiandervishi thank you very much! That's very helpful. Sorry I got mislead as you probably picked the very best in the demo, but this process involves a lot of trial and error I guess. I'm gonna experiment with collision and tension, I really tend to overlook those 2 devices. :)
@christiandervishi8 күн бұрын
@@jamesmeustache7740 funny enough that was my first try and in general it never really took me more than what I said in the video to setup the whole template. I think it's just a matter of creating the right instrument fully flexible and once you have that it's easily gonna work. Good luck!

Kinda bored of the 'disperser' type sound for want of a better adjective. Look forward to when people get back to more real sounding imaginary sounds :) Some nice techniques though and sounds cool

I agree that it's so overused nowadays, but I feel like it's still a cool sound when it works. I see it being used everywhere on videogames where, personally, I like it mostly on sci-fi/gorey stuff, cause the liquid part is justified enough to me. But I didn't really feel like I used it so much in this video, did I? At what minute you feel like it's too prominent? Thank you btw for the feedback, always helps me a lot! ❤

is there a free alternative for this?
@christiandervishiАй бұрын
Sadly not one I'm aware of. Even tho, if you have Ableton you can use the M4L device called Shaper and map it to the Volume Gain, so you're able to control the envelope of 1 channel. You duplicate this 4 times for 4 different channel tracks. Then what you can do is randomize the duration of the Shaper, so each time you press play it randomizes slightly the duration of each tracks and you have a similar result. You can map Shaper to each parameter you want (pitch, for example) and you're gonna end up with something that KIIIIIINDA sounds similar to Whoosh, with built-in randomization as well :) Please tell me if I was clear enough ahah

@christiandervishiАй бұрын
Grazie mille davvero!

Sounds cool, the trend towards stcking hundreds of plugins to me is kinda crazy. My experience in film design for the last 15 years is that the top end people don't need to use 100 plugins, they use 5-10 tops
@christiandervishi2 ай бұрын
During sound design and source creation sessions I like to stack plugins because they add artifacts and give more "texture", so it can be molded more. I also love resampling stuff through the same chain over and over, it really gives crazy results! But yeah, during editing I also use almost no plugins

What really helped me when I was starting out (I'm still a big noob, nowhere near a good synthesis level) was to load cool presets that I liked, see how they were made and dissect them. How each Env/LFO/Osc/FX is affecting the final outcome and understand how to reuse them to achieve that specific result you have in mind is the biggest game changer (to me at least). Hope it helps a bit!
@ytensor21962 ай бұрын
@@christiandervishithank you :] definitely agree, totally the way when learning synthesis. wish more synths included fx presets like phaseplant! also is there any processing you find yourself coming back to? I've had some luck with granular and spectral stuff in the past but I'm sure there are more esoteric things for ui design.
@christiandervishi2 ай бұрын
@@ytensor2196 I really really love spectral stuff, but I now tend to use it only at the beginning of the chain so that it's gonna be super processed after and you won't really hear the spectral artifacts. I almost stopped using granular stuff except for argotlunar to shape a bit the audio (I used it in my Mattia Cellotto Breakdown video) or Phase Plant granular synth but again, just like spectral stuff, it's at the beginning of the chain and since it's followed by many others FX you won't hear the classic granular sounds

You can get similar results with Multiband Compressor and Spectral Compressor. It may be hard to replicate because Uberloud has a very distinct sound, but the idea behind it is just Multiband Compressor on crack. So by playing around with these devices you can achieve something similar!
