There is no hard evidence that this queen existed at all. A Roman general wrote home and told a story of how he had defeated a queen in a battle. But it’s very likely he made the story up to boost his own image. Elizabeth the first promoted the story to boost her image. And the story has grown over time.

Something I want to bring up is that in the 2010s everyone was like 'crossrail is over budget' and 'oohoh its several years late' but now you dont see anyone like that, they take it for granted and use it, proving that it was worth it. But now the blame has shifted to HS2 and I have a suspicion that its gonna end the same way again

All old canals, railways and roads that are not built on should be made public access with access routes to them if running through private land.

It’s like this channel was made for me lol that’s my two main interests, the right the roam and it’s history and Roman roads. There’s a great smallish channel on here called Malc Cowle, he also wrote the book “Trespassers! A tribute to Benny Rothman and all the fighters for the freedom to roam” Malc may have passed now but he worked on this topic more than anyone else I know

Unfortunately here in the UK, a lot of landowners have been put off of allowing access to their land because of the damage done and amount of rubbish left behind by so called wild campers. This attitude which comes from an irresponsible small minority, whereas any real wild camper will leave the area where they set up camp cleaner than when they arrived. I've been a wild camper since my childhood days and was taught to respect nature and the land I was camping on

Every one of these movements gets hijacked by leftie activist bigots who ruin it for everyone. People cannot be trusted. If someone bought a property and retrospectively you deny them their property rights then its understandable they have lost value from their investment. The genie can't be put back in the bottle.
@pwhitewick

A little to unpack here Ben. But I'll try. The left agenda is often one that sits directly opposite bigotry. The R2R campaign indeed does just that, trying to open up land for many to enjoy fornthe benefit of their health and understand of the environment. As for retrospective denial of private land. Well... as Jon states in this video, nobody will be taking away anyone's right to their own land and private property. This really won't affect property prices. That said... have you tried buying a house lately!

I'd say 99.9% of walkers care for their surroundings and, if given the chance, would be responsible visitors to the huge swathes of land not currently accessible in England. Fly tipping and the vast quantities of crap thrown out of car and truck (truck drivers seem to specialise in chucking out bottles of piss) windows that you see along the road sides is vastly greater in quantity and impact. The A14 has recently been 'upgraded' near me and just one small area where the construction crews parked up has been swamped by their discarded food wrappers/drinks cans and general shit - literally a mountain of it.

If you parachuted into an access island would that be a legal way to enter it? Then you'd be stuck there, maybe you need a paramotor to fly in and out? Maybe a use for jetpacks?

I always use metric measurements, on Google/OS Maps et al. As I live in 🇬🇧 this might appear strange or obstinate. But as OS Maps are fully metric (since the early 70s) and have a 1km grid superimposed upon them (since the 40s) I find it practical. In 🇬🇧 you will frequently see directions that start in Miles (as per the road signs), but then switch to Metres for the local directions. 500ft on the left🤔?

Nice little mini documentary. Although we think major crimes are not nice, in this case too the driver was badly treated, sadly, a man just doing his job, we are fascinated by this story. Not many talk of the the locomotive, a class 40 built about 1960, number D326 was plagued with bad luck. There were many accidents and incidents with this actual loco and finally withdrawn by British Rail and renumbered as 40126 and scrapped in 1984.

It was nauseating to think that this group of self entitled criminals were seen as being sort of audacious ‘Robin Hood’ characters. My friend once went to an event regarding a Bruce Reynolds book. The appetite to see these people as just rogues seems ridiculous. Fair play to John Lyndon refusing to have any part in meeting with Biggs.

I recently visited a museum called The 1950s Museum in North Wales just outside Denbigh. They have the lorry used in this robbery. Unfortunately they had a fire over a decade ago and the cab was badly damaged but strangely apparently the bed was not. They found a new cab for it but they still have the original cab which actually doesn't look all that damaged. The original cab is inside the museum, the lorry is in a shed outside with the replacement cab and you can see the compartment they made for the money in the middle of the bed.

With regard to ground nesting birds and their potential disruption something that never seems to be mentioned is the disruption from other animals other than dogs . Ok , cats aren’t generally taken for “ walkies “ however I understand they account for a huge number of birds and small mammals . Furthermore , what about the indigenous and introduced wild life ? I live in north Bedfordshire and we have herds of fallow deer , some 30 to 40 strong , roaming in the small woods and on farmers fields and the set aside . There are Water deer , Muntjacs , foxes , badgers , polecats ( yes I’ve seen them ) , otters , Red Kites and Buzzards . Go to a different part of the country and you will have a different palate . As has been said , humans generally stay to a path and have their dogs on leads or walking with them . I have rarely seen an out of control dog in the countryside and where there are do they , do more damage to wildlife than the wildlife listed above ? Look at Scotland where huge numbers of Red Deer roam freely . I’m away for a week in Scotland and whilst driving through Lochcarron came upon a group of 15/20 male red deer grazing in a mall field by the 20mph sign , where do they go at night or during the rut ? Most sensible people leave wildlife alone and admire from a distance , there will always be idiots but they generally want to spend their time in places far removed from the great outdoors.

How did they know it was a male train?
@katesmith5767
@katesmith5767 2 күн бұрын
I assume you mean Mail. Two reasons- the same train was timetabled to leave at the same time six nights per week I believe. Also, nowadays we can look up train movements on the internet but back then that obviously wasn’t possible. They had insider intelligence to know what the content of the train was that evening

Talking about less than 1% owning a lot of land isn't an argument for the vast majority of lang owners though. Like he said, it's less than 1%. What about some family buying an old farm with some land? They don't own land because of an ancestor being a feudal lord or whatever. They own it because they bought it, just as is the case for someone buying a house with a garden. He's just avoiding that question entirely by mentioning something that applies to less than 1%. Anyone who owns or knows someone who owns land would also be able to tell you that people staying on the path is pure fantasy. If only that was the case, this would be far less of an issue. Actual hikers tend to be better about those sorts of things, leave no trace and all that. People out for a walk don't give a fuck, and they will happily leave trash, wander off the path to steal mushrooms, fruits etc. or even branches and shit for decorations or whatever they do with them.
