If I was rich I would be this and then not worry about a computer for the next decade and a half.

Im still happy with my Panny G9 and have been shooting with M43 the last 7 years. It never let me down. For a back-up camera I took the Nikon Z50. Nice tiny little camera but not as good as my G9. If its in my budget I will consider the GH7....for sure.

Video too yellow too warm..looks like video has a jaundice eye problem. Either the LUT sucks or you need to learn how to white balance.

What I love most about Cummings is his absolutely bizarre sense of humor. It's such a nice change of pace from the already stale Apatow-McKay monopoly on humor, which is so fucking straight and language based, just basically a bunch of dudes saying vulgar or non-sense things to each other. Cummings humor is behavior-based, anchored in real-life situations. He actually reminds me a little bit of Albert Brooks.

If the camera makes cinema material then it is a cinema camera....but also cinema is a place and an idea, not a movie. I think movie makers need to start studying independent musicians. Indie filmmakers need to quit modeling their careers off of QT, PT, Nolan, etc, and learn who Aaron Yates is. They need to learn why there was a bidding war for Drake or 50 cent. If the camera can achieve the look you want....it's good enough.

Spot on with the comment about it being a consumer IMAX-certified camera, was genuinely shocked when I first saw the footage coming out of this sensor in open gate paired with the Helios 44-2

I have used the Sony FX30 with different lenses before but not in low light situations yet. And I just have used it in 4K 60fps 4:2:0 10 bits resolution (I haven't used it in 120fps because of the awful crop in the sensor in that frame rate). I think the quality of the FX30 in low light situations, in this video, is pretty decent is we compare with any Sony A6*** camera and the 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens. On the other hand I also had the Lumix G85 and the 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens, during a few month in 2023, and I tell you... the quality in low light situations is even worse, unless you have one of those Rotolight lights. Certainly, which picture profile and color LUT did you use in this video (I also edit with Final Cut X by the way)?

Yes. If you're an artist, you're just going to make art. Most people just talk about it, most people make excuses about all the obstacles and the reasons they can't do it, instead of just doing it. I speak from experience. If you feel compelled to tell a story, and if you're really about this life, you'll figure it out. I've done it all by myself a few times already. Literally, all by myself. Everybody watching this video can do the same thing. But almost nobody will.

I love to see this, I like it when either someone I'm following makes it, but also in reverse, I love seeing someone who has made it, and finding out they started where we all did. Dan Trachtenberg had a youtube channel, its still there, he made short films and went on to make a Predator film!

Agreed as an M3 Max owner and 6 year Intel owner. The only upgrade I will make is when Apple goes OLED. I’ll probably swap and keep that for 10 years if it lasts. I cant think of anyone who cares about 8k enough to edit it and we need 100k” TVs in majority of homes to truly see the benefits.

Patrick, I watched your video with Gerald on the FX30. You both were saying the stabilisation was the best in the Sony camera line up. I was looking at a ZVE1 but stumbled across your video. I own a A7R5 but want second camera to get a second angle, and maybe some better stabilisation.

I've been building my own / using PC's since 1990 ish. Just got my first base M2 Mini. Love it. apart from the amazing speed for 8GB, it's just fun. I work as a CAD Engineer, but that's mainly on Windows. These are the best value home PC you can buy, period, no arguments. Coupled it with a 1TB quality SSD and it flies. 👌

So on board with this Paddy T Jim C colab chat! I use a BMPCC OG and constantly worry about image quality, sound design, other filmmakers, my half assed youtube channel, a lack of views for my last short and everything else. But then I sit down and watch the latest cut of my latest short film and it's pretty damn good, and yeah I'm making it all up as I go along, but who cares! Just gotta make it, keep getting better and screw what the 'industry' expects of us. We can all make our own shit and post it and keep going as filmmakers.
