How many km/miles did the engine run before you rebuild it? I got 155k km but it stood still for a long time

Ik heb deze besteld via ebay bij iemand in de VS die nog enkel setjes nieuw op voorraad had liggen.

Hey steven- incredible job. I’ve got a 91 318is As well and would like to rebuild my engine. I’m a “learning mechanic” but I use “mechanic” lightly... Any chance you and I could correspond about the cost and where you sources your parts? I’d be greatly appreciative. Thanks for sharing!

Hello. Thank you for the nice feedback! I'm not really a mechanic but I'm interested in technique and it seemed a nice challenge to tackle (luckily I have some friends who helped me who were more used picking up spanners etc :) ). The new cylinder head I bought via Ebay (an English company who had a refurbished head for sale at that moment). The engine block itself just had an overhaul. The other parts (mostly timing parts and all the gasket) I bought at the BMW dealer nearby. Only the camshaft sprockets were not available ("sold out") and I found them also via Ebay in the US where someone sold 'new old stock' I suppose. The total cost of the rebuild was just beneath 4.000EUR . Good luck with your project!

It looks pretty stressful to check the mirrors all the time for faster drivers. I want to drive the Nordschleife as well, but I’m sure the first 5 or so laps aren’t going to be that enjoyable.

On Nuburg the cars only can overtake on the left side of the track, anda the pizza guy was always blocking the left side of the track... Nice E30 tho! Next time with more floor to the ground 👌
