Never seen anything so beautiful. So tangible. It's truly magnificent. As artists we are taught the techniques "trust the process". We work so hard to convince ourselves that it's a craft that anyone can learn. No. It's a gift. Anyone can get good. Few are magnificent. You are blessed❤❤❤

My absolute favorite video and painting of yours. I watched it 4 times. So thoughtful , so beautiful. You made the right choices changing the background. You are a true artist. Many people can paint from references. Not many people can do what you do. I hope you keep doing these videos . I watched every single one of them

Just as wonderful as your oils and pastels. I primarily paint in watercolour but started with pastels. I really struggle when I switch mediums - I’m obviously less flexible 😊
@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
Thank you :) Maybe it's more difficult going from watercolour to pastel than the other way around! 😁

I love your work no matter the medium, however, the loud music intervals is very annoying.
@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I understand that music isn't for everyone, but on balance it's better than silence. I set the volume of the music to be the same as when I'm speaking so it really shouldn't be loud.

Just HOW?! I could not have the patience to also wait for the paint to dry. Wish to paint with oil just once, maybe in the future. I guess I have to learn more and more to get to this level💜
@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
Thank you! :) I enjoy doing it, so it really doesn't feel like it requires any patience on my part. Doing other types of work certainly does! 😀 but generally not for me with painting.

I'm new to oiling out. Is there a limit to how often you can do it to an area? Are there any cons to doing it? What if you oil out an area to paint.. and then promptly forget about it until it's too sticky to paint on? Could you maybe do a video solely on oiling out... if you don't already have one?
@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
Thank you :) I would say yes, there is a limit. I wouldn'y want to do it more than two or three times because if you build up too thick an oil layer it is more likely to crack over time. If you forgot and it dried then it would count as a layer anyway.

Hello Eric, I have only watch a few of your paintings. You have a wonderful rich style and your paintings are so full of emotion. This is the first portrait Ive watched. beautiful work! His man looks so pleasant and humble. They say you're attracted to your own kind so you must be a similar person to have been friends since childhood. I will keep an eye out for your future paintings. Im very new to oils so I have a lot to learn. I like the way you explain what you are doing, thank you

I first saw the painting on FB, prior to the video. I shared it with friends who paint. I still can't believe, even watching you painting it, that's it's not a photograph, not the actual man and you are touching his face with your brush. It's absolutely stellar work. I applaud you. 👏

Well, what about the oils? Aren’t they from oil also?
@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking about there. Do you mean the toxicity? If so there's no problem with OIL. The problem is the SOLVENTS used to thin oil paint.

@ericwilsonfineart2 ай бұрын
Funny you should say that... I went to Art college after finishing school, and at that time I was really into detailed drawings. My art 'teacher' saw what I was doing and instead of encouraging me, he told me to put my pencil down, go outside and grab some mud and make a picture with that! I went outside and then kept walking. I never returned to art college....

I love the result, especially the colors on face! For future, could you please rotate your camera, when you rotate tiger?
@fluidjazz3 ай бұрын
Surely you would like to observe how the artist paints the subject. Rotating the subject gives a different perspective, which is what the artist is trying to illustrate?
@ericwilsonfineart3 ай бұрын
I decided against that because, due to the format of the painting being long and tall, if I'd always shown it upright it would have become very small in the full painting long shots.
