I have 2 of the okuma longitude rods both 12 feet rated 3-8oz one is 8-9 years old actually meant to be used with a conventional reel, yet i use it with a penn fierce spinning reel which is wrong yet havent had any issues bringing in jacks of about 7kg+ from the surf, without any issues. Ordered another one (spinning didnt make a mistake this time) during covid with a penn battle 2 both reels are 8000 and i use 40lb braid and use 6-8oz grapple sinkers cos in lagos nigeria the surf is rough but had no issues with either and i use at times a whole mullet or some chunks of big mackerel, besides shrimps or squid baits. I personally love the rods can heave big fish from the surf no problem, if one of my buddies has one after he saw me using it he has had his a couple of years plus no issues likewise... Lucky me i guess or unlucky you🤷

You high-pointed that rod at one point.

Good morning. Did Okuma make good on the second rod tip? How did the second rods hold up? I have only broken rods due to my own mistakes and not while fishing. I bought Okuma rods and reels for the same reason as you--trying to save a little money on equipment. Interested to hear your comments. Regards, Jeff Fallon San Antonio, Texas.

No ball bearings in the red Jigmaster. I have an 80s model with an aluminum spool and oil impregnated bushings. I also have an early model 505 Jigmaster that does have 2 ball bearings.

Is the pier pay to fish?

the bait and tackle expenses on tybee pier. so would definitely recommend bringing plenty of tackle

Never forget when I was a kid my dad got hit in the hand by a stingray, he was shooting blood out his hand on the tybee pier like a water fountain. To this day his hand looks like it only has 3 knuckles

Try to get a jig Master 505hs if you don't already. Love the 500 grew using them.

I love finding new places to fish and this one looks like a winner, but I love to keep and eat fish..lol.. If you don’t mind me asking, why did they say not to eat them from there? Mercury, Bacteria..?!?!

Shark fishing is NOT prohibited by the way. I would know because I was a major component in getting the ordinance removed. Proof is on the Tybee website and on the city council notes. I'm an avid shark fisherman and State law allows us to do so.

This project concept is brilliant, Georgia salt water fishing in general is overlooked and under rated. I feel like theres unlimited videos about pier fishing in all states except Georgia. Please do Saint Simons next as it's my hometown. Also Jekyll is just a few minutes away so you could knock out two episodes within a few days. You deserve so much more recognition, you seem to have a lot of knowledge and passion for the sport of fishing. Thanks again for the quality content. keep it up

We are rebooted and ready to start posting content. St. Simons is actually on or short list! We already have some content from Mary Ross Park and Fort McAllister. Stay tuned, we plan to get them all eventually! Thanks for watching!

Major rod production error. If your sticking to tight budget Ugly stick works great. If you want a beautiful surf rod that will last Phenix rods from California (Black diamond) rates 5 out of 5 and will pass on to the kids no problems

Thats unfortunate. I have a 12ft casting rod had it for 4 years now and only problem I have is I cant separate it back into a 2 piece. I caught some nice bull reds on it still waiting for the day it snaps
@cmalet04312 жыл бұрын
Wrap an ice pack around the joint. Let it get good and cold and you should be able to separate it

Does this pier have a drop net on site? Just wondering if I need to bring my own. Thanks!
@crotalusjbc2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Chris, there is generally a pier net available, but sometimes the quality might not be so great. I generally bring mine everywhere I go just to be safe! Good luck!

The bait shop usually has one. Your best bet is to bring one in case they're closed and no one else brought one.
@fishingwithtim23342 жыл бұрын
I'm a local and I'd recommend bringing your own net and not depend on the bait shop. If I'm out there I always help net unless I'm hooked up.

I bought my 12’ longitude about 13 years ago(when they first released I believe) it has been tried and try since. I have heard that since they became very popular they began mass producing them and that is where their quality began to fall.

Great content mate! I really appreciate this. Going to Tybee with my wife tomorrow, your tips will hopefully result in some fish so I wont look like a jackass. I like what you do with your channel, keep it up, I subscribed
