You started wrong man. First thing on a GC8, is the cheap ebay H brace. That strut brace looks cool, doesn't do much for handling. You might ask "then what does?" Rear 22mm ARB if the front is stock, or Front 22mm ARB and 24mm rear ARB. Than... those brakes... the stock 4 pots are bad, but those are terrible. The wheels are nice, but get some decent tires.... Well... nice to see more GC content on youtube. EDIT: Wheels... they can fit, with 215/45 (the most correct tire size for a GC) you'll need 2" front camber and 1.5" rear and can't go to low. The handling will also improve.
@d.fry379 Жыл бұрын
Right now the car only gets used a couple times a year to shred in the snow where handling doesn’t matter much beyond snow tires. Down the road it will see more track oriented mods like you mentioned. I appreciate the info you shared!

I've looked at every integra video u put out and am trying to do the same rn with a 97 integra gsr. I was wondering what u would do differently. I plan to k swap it so engine and harness and trany and ecu and all that will be different but as the rust goes because I have some on the driver side and rear quarters would u do anything differently im trying to figure out how to tackle that before I go buying all these parts thanks man
@d.fry3792 жыл бұрын
I would do most of it differently lol. Mine also has rust on the rear quarters. I’m planning to let a professional fix the rust and then respray the entire car. Definitely a more expensive route, but I feel it’s worth it being a type r. You can diy rust repair for sure, but I’ve never attempted it myself

Gotta heat those brake lines up with mini butane torch and wiggle them until they break free with a line quality line wrench (for those who think they will be easy to free up with a regular open end wrench, they won't give it up easily and they'll be easily damaged).
@BassRocket2 жыл бұрын
@@d.fry379 I'm excited for you to get it on the road.

I do not think that car is a real type r the engine valve cover is black the mirror was silver and the type r sticker looks like a cheap chinese knock off also the interior does not have carbon trim pieces.
@d.fry3792 жыл бұрын
The vin confirms it is a real type r. The entire car was poorly repainted 15+ years ago. The valve cover and entire engine were painted black as well. The carbon interior trim was optional on type r’s as well. This is probably the worst example of a type r on the planet lol

Dude, when you showed the rear suspension and the "type r goodies", I noticed that those are not Type R rear lower control arms, nor rear struts. The Type R had spherical style lower mounts for the struts.
@d.fry3792 жыл бұрын
The car was modified very early into its life, it’s possible the LCAs were changed to fit gsr coilsovers. I’m not really sure to be honest with you! I’m not an expert on these cars and I haven’t spent enough time with mine to learn these things. I appreciate you pointing that out though, I’ll have to do more research and see what I find!
@pvtawol2 жыл бұрын
@@d.fry379 dude, no worries man! You're doing an excellent job with the car! I've restored a couple of these, and so I just notice little things. If you ever want to chat about it, let me know! FYI, the ITR specific rear LCA's with the spherical lower strut bushings, were designed to give the car an almost Rear Wheel Drive handling characteristic. They allow the rear wheels to "turn" a bit when cornering, and with the factory sway bar (larger than the other Integras) you can almost have the front wheel drive car, oversteer. It's such a cool feeling, compared to a standard GSR. You would have to get ITR specific rear suspension, but the LCA's are cheap. Hmotorsonline carries them.

Nice update! The 350Z is one of the best cars forbthe money out there right now. Im considering getting one. Did you do a compression check on the engine? I have a feeling the engine wasn't taken care of. Did you ever mention how much you bought the Type R for? Was it owned by an individual or a business when you bought it? Keep the updates coming!
@d.fry3792 жыл бұрын
I got the 350Z for a steal of a deal. Perfect candidate for a drift missile! I haven’t yet compression tested the integra. I’ve heard rumours that the engine was damaged by the previous owner, but I haven’t had much drive to mess with it yet. It was owned by an individual. The biggest Honda guy around here. He was planning to fix it eventually as well. I’ve kept the money side private. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!

Do you know the badge number for your ITR?
@d.fry3792 жыл бұрын
I don’t!! The center console was swapped years ago and none of the previous owners knew the whereabouts of it. I’ve done a bunch of research and it sounds like they were not related to the vin either. I would love to find out some day!
@xanderbremer78642 жыл бұрын
Yeah I heard that it may have something to do with the serial number on the engine. I own a 1997 USDM ITR and the original block’s serial number does not add up to the badge number. I hope to see more on the Integra build and the new build!
