Great playing man and you really showcased what it can do with just the stock IRs. I was late to the Torpedo Live but had a Captor X. Dug it but I really needed something that could fit in a small rack with my IEM and wireless guitar rig and the Captor X was too tall for it. Wish Two Notes would release another Torpedo Live in 1U format with full stereo I/O. That’s the only thing I’m missing with it but I just run line out into my wet effects for stereo effects.

Hey Justin I had just gotten the Torpedo live a week or so ago.. Amazing..So if I was to use a pedal of my choice what input would I use to plug into?..and it doesn't have to be a preamp pedal does it?

use the line input- any 'amp in the box' pedal should work well.

Can you explain me what the purpose of these devices is if you at the end turn on either a big cab or studio monitor anyway? Lol. You reviewers are funny. Why not get the real deal then? Can you imagine that these products would (if they are good) benefit bedroom or living room players with crazy neighbors the most? Guess what.... these guitar players, including myself want to hear the direct sound. Guitar>Pre-amp>cabsim>audiointerface. Seriously... if noise would be no issue, I'd rather buy a real amp and cab instead of any cab sims or preamps lol.
@JustinBryantdotcom5 жыл бұрын
Dennis X - a lot of stages don’t allow live amps anymore - especially churches...also great in the studio
@VideosVonDennis5 жыл бұрын
@@JustinBryantdotcom Understand. I'm just saying, because the direct to interface sound without mic'ing of studio monitors should be a great part of these reviews. It would be interesting to hear that. I can't imagine that I am the only one on this planet living in an apartment with neighbors that don't even like studio monitors. :)
@JustinBryantdotcom5 жыл бұрын
@@VideosVonDennis This isn't the full video- I have another that's 9 mins long and no 'room' sounds- I think that's what you're asking. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldyDdJmc0LzFlqc.html
@VideosVonDennis5 жыл бұрын
You are using a real vibroverb amp there, not a preamp pedal like the bogner. I am wondering if something like a Moeer preamp or bogner combined with a TwoNotes cab simulator straight into a audio interface and headphones would sound like. I am browsing KZfaq for that since a week and it seems nobody ever tried that, wich is funny because these devices are literally amp and cap simulators if I understand it right. One could think they are designed as an alternative to real amps and cabs... especially for bedroomrockers with angry neighbors :)
@JustinBryantdotcom5 жыл бұрын

@JustinBryantdotcom6 жыл бұрын
frantisca hey thanks for the comment - this video was really geared towards the clean side per request of Two Notes. The crunch stuff was more an afterthought and was just to show ‘range’ . I didn’t spend any prep time picking the cabs/ mics on the lead stuff.

Great demo! Quick question if you could please answer, my amp is 16 ohm speaker, how would this work if I’m coming out to 8 ohm torpedo and wanting to run my 16 ohm cab with the thru feature? Thanks for the demo.
@JustinBryantdotcom6 жыл бұрын
it will be perfectly fine- this impedance 'mismatch' won't cause an issue. Maybe a little bit of a volume drop.

I have tried a Two Notes Torpedo Live on two different occasions, tried a dozen or so IR's , but always had some sort of sizzle distortion . Tried different cables , was making sure I did not have anything turned up too loud, still got un wanted distortion. I could not achieve any clean tones near what you are getting in this video. I was using a Matchless SC 30 set as clean as it could be. Used two different Torpedo's still no good results. WTF did i do wrong ??
@JustinBryantdotcom6 жыл бұрын
MrDavemiley hmm... shouldn't be any sizzling- have you contacted tech support?
@MrDavemiley6 жыл бұрын
YES both times i tried one of these out. I was sooooo wanting this thing to work. I was using good cables, tried it recording into Logic and into PA board , used two different ones from two retailers, returned them both . Got very little help from retailers or two notes.

Man, you're demo-ing an 800USD recording device and give us the sound of the camera? I can hear the strings, the room, your breathing etc, what is the point of this? No offense
@JustinBryantdotcom7 жыл бұрын
Michael- A) this was my first video. B) the control room was huge and the audio needed to be brought up from the camera mic ( compression). However, on this clip there shouldn't be any string noise, as the clips are DI"d and ducked out of the camera mic. Thanks for watching though and the feedback.
@michaelkupfer37237 жыл бұрын
Justin Bryant It's ok, as I said, no offense, we all make mistakes and learn from them. Maybe not string noise, but I can clearly hear the strings AND, more importantly, the camera setting the level up and down/compressing. But it's all good. I'd more interested to hear if you are still using this device?

Great demo I've just purchased one and running through Genelec 1031's. Should I be using any particular type of monitor for home studio, don't want to kill my monitors?
@hamadxjm7 жыл бұрын
In the manual and for studio setup. it says you need to connect the S/Pdif output to the audio interface. Do you need to use this output to get the digital simulated sound? I dont have SPdif input in my interface and dont want to buy a new one if it not essential.
@JustinBryantdotcom7 жыл бұрын
You can connect via the direct outs- I don't use SPDIF at all.

Nice, looking at this pedal online and helps to see someone demo it with almost identical suhr, mines a maple fretboard
@geraldhinson7 жыл бұрын
Great video! I'm curious if you've compared the Suhr Reactive Load to the built-in reactive load in the Torpedo Live unit and, if so, how they differed. I'm trying to decide between this sort of setup vs. a Kemper currently for a mix of quiet home recording and playing live with in-ears. (I see you have Kemper experience as well based on your interaction with TAF below. Love Andy's profiles.)
@JustinBryantdotcom7 жыл бұрын
I don't know- I can tell you that John Suhr was impressed with these via Pete Thorn. The Suhr is most likely fantastic just for the load only portion. If you just need to get to line level maybe the better option. If you need both in one box- well there's the answer.
@geraldhinson7 жыл бұрын
John's a stud on this stuff. LOVE his SL amps. I'm tempted to pick up his SRL and a Torpedo CAB to run behind my amps, but most of the demos I've found of that rig don't showcase the huge, full sound of either a great Fender or Marshall cranked just under breakup level. Not that I would use that big of a tone to record, but it would be nice to know the setup can do it if for no other reason than for playing at home (quietly).
@geraldhinson7 жыл бұрын
Btw, the main reason I would care (unless there is a significant difference in quality) is because the SRL/T.CAB is pedal board friendly vs. requiring me to deal with a rack mount.
@JustinBryantdotcom7 жыл бұрын
You can't go wrong with the Suhr and the CAB.

Hi Justin can you get some good clean /semi break up sounds with the bogner pedals direct into two notes? Im just wondering how convincing those sounds are.... Looking for a good Direct sound without using my valve amps at all, I heard a review of a super reverb through a two notes cranked to 7-8 and it sounded incredible, BUT I wonder how long your valves will last running them that hard ? Great review BTW thankyou
@JustinBryantdotcom8 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul! The million dollar question. With so many many modeling options out there- it's personal choice. However, if you have some really good 'preamp' style pedals: Wampler, Rockett, Friedman or Bogner the Two Notes can would be something to consider. I have probably used about every combination you can think of and it's really personal choice and convenience. You'll ultimately sound like you, but it's a long and rewarding ride!
