This is a comprehensive video showcasing the Two Notes Torpedo Live using one amplifier ( '71 Fender Vibrolux).
I'm using a CS '51 Nocaster, '60 fender Stratocaster, Gibson ES-335 and a Suhr Antique Classic
Topics covered: Country Twang, Fingerstyle, and early 70's Rock.
I also demonstrate the power amplifier simulations using the Bogner Ecstasy Blue and Red Pedals as preamps.
I have many more videos coming so please subscribe!

Justin Bryant yes, it's a total keeper. i had the mesa cab clone which got the job done live, but when i tried it into my protools system it was immediately apparent that i could never use it for recording. it simply didn't sound good in this application. the two notes however is outstanding. i really can't say enough about the thing. it's not cheap but for what you're getting, it IS cheap. highly recommended.

Great playing man and you really showcased what it can do with just the stock IRs. I was late to the Torpedo Live but had a Captor X. Dug it but I really needed something that could fit in a small rack with my IEM and wireless guitar rig and the Captor X was too tall for it. Wish Two Notes would release another Torpedo Live in 1U format with full stereo I/O. That’s the only thing I’m missing with it but I just run line out into my wet effects for stereo effects.

Hi Justin, nice video, thanks for sharing. I wish to know if is possible to connect my guitar head to the torpedo directly and without connect any cabinet. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

darklabelstudio Yes, There is no physical cabinet used in this video- it has a fantastic reactive load box built in. You can also do both at the same time! Most people use it without a cabinet for recording etc.

Hi! Did you change the OT in the amp since the original one expects to see a 4 ohm speaker load, but the Torpedo Live acts as a 8 ohm load, right? I'm curious because I'm tempted to run the same setup after watching this demo :) Thanks in advance!
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 8 жыл бұрын
+Lassi Kaljonen Great question- this is sticky;- so I'll do my best. The answer is no- it's still a 4 ohm tap on the amplifier. There's a lot of speculation and voodoo regarding impedance mismatching. Impedance is variable to a certain extent on guitar amplifiers and cabinets. 4 Ohms may be 3.47 etc. Now, is 4 into 8 a mismatch- yes. Does it sonically change things a a bit? Maybe a little. Does it put unneeded strain on the OT? Not that much. I've never blown an OT and frankly anytime I've heard of them blowing it's from no load or just physics and time. Here's a fantastic read from H&K regarding what works and why- and what does not.. I think you'll really enjoy it and it will clear up some misconceptions! Great video! I'm curious if you've compared the Suhr Reactive Load to the built-in reactive load in the Torpedo Live unit and, if so, how they differed. I'm trying to decide between this sort of setup vs. a Kemper currently for a mix of quiet home recording and playing live with in-ears. (I see you have Kemper experience as well based on your interaction with TAF below. Love Andy's profiles.)
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 7 жыл бұрын
I don't know- I can tell you that John Suhr was impressed with these via Pete Thorn. The Suhr is most likely fantastic just for the load only portion. If you just need to get to line level maybe the better option. If you need both in one box- well there's the answer.

John's a stud on this stuff. LOVE his SL amps. I'm tempted to pick up his SRL and a Torpedo CAB to run behind my amps, but most of the demos I've found of that rig don't showcase the huge, full sound of either a great Fender or Marshall cranked just under breakup level. Not that I would use that big of a tone to record, but it would be nice to know the setup can do it if for no other reason than for playing at home (quietly).
@geraldhinson
@geraldhinson 7 жыл бұрын
Btw, the main reason I would care (unless there is a significant difference in quality) is because the SRL/T.CAB is pedal board friendly vs. requiring me to deal with a rack mount.

Hi Justin can you get some good clean /semi break up sounds with the bogner pedals direct into two notes? Im just wondering how convincing those sounds are.... Looking for a good Direct sound without using my valve amps at all, I heard a review of a super reverb through a two notes cranked to 7-8 and it sounded incredible, BUT I wonder how long your valves will last running them that hard ? Great review BTW thankyou
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul! The million dollar question. With so many many modeling options out there- it's personal choice. However, if you have some really good 'preamp' style pedals: Wampler, Rockett, Friedman or Bogner the Two Notes can would be something to consider. I have probably used about every combination you can think of and it's really personal choice and convenience. You'll ultimately sound like you, but it's a long and rewarding ride!

Cool video, I m got a torpedo live a few months ago and i m absolutely satisfied with it but i have to face an audio interface "unfaithfulness" problem. Could you tell us which audio interface you use with the torpedo? Thanx
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 9 жыл бұрын
What interface are you using? For the video, I plugged directly into a a Pro-Tools HD Rig at the studio I was in. I use the Apogee Duet 2 in my home studio- equal/ better results. I just use it for the line inputs ( no mic pre's).
@benjlarsen

Justin Bryant Basically I was using an Esi waveterminal 192m (11years old!!) which I knew i'd have to upgrade using the torpedo live. So I ordered a Roland Quad Capture I was unsatisfied but It permitted to me to see where my problem was (the difference between the input signal (which I totally digged) and the sound that was going into my computer thanx to the knob that goes from "playback" to "Input" which is very useful on this unit btw). So I sent back the quad capture last week after a few recording tests and I'm now looking for a more "transparent" or "faithful" audio interface, I work on a Pc.

Your demo has to be the best on the 'Tube' for this. Have you tried the SUHR Reactive Load through a cab sim? I'm torn between both units, especially after watching your demo. Just wondering what your thoughts were on it. Thanks!
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 8 жыл бұрын
+GmanMusicProductions John Suhr was a big fan of this unit when Pete Thorn was putting his road rig together several years back,and why he built his own version. I hear it's great piece but myself haven't checked one out. I know it's just a load box as this is an all-in-one!
@GmanMusicProductions
@GmanMusicProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+Justin Bryant Right now, I'm steering towards the Suhr because I can use my DAW for the cab sims and save a little cash too. Although the all-in-one feature is nice. I've been hearing from other Torpedo users that the SUHR unit has a slightly better feel and more open tone. I know I'll be at least getting the Two Notes CAB. Thanks again for the reply!

In the manual and for studio setup. it says you need to connect the S/Pdif output to the audio interface. Do you need to use this output to get the digital simulated sound? I dont have SPdif input in my interface and dont want to buy a new one if it not essential.

When you used the Bogner pedals did you just plug them straight from the pedal into the line input? I'm a bit confused as they are saying the Torpedo C.A.B is basically the same as the Torpedo Live but without the load box feature. If they are both designed to work with pedals also why does the C.A.B have a gtr/line level switch next to the input but the Live doesn't? Excuse my ignorance on the subject, I'm just trying to work out which one is the best for me as there is a big price difference. Thanks.
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 8 жыл бұрын
yes! Straight into the line input, bypassing the load section. I'm not sure why the Live doesn't have the level switch- but not sure that it's needed either.

+Justin Bryant thanks man. I think I'm gonna go for the torpedo live. that way I can use my pedalboard or my rather large amps for recording seeing as they don't get much use anymore as the trend for gigs these days is travel light and lower wattage on stage. At least my great sounding amps will get used for something. Thanks again for replying and great demo by the way. I will now return the favour by subscribing to your channel. :-)

I have tried a Two Notes Torpedo Live on two different occasions, tried a dozen or so IR's , but always had some sort of sizzle distortion . Tried different cables , was making sure I did not have anything turned up too loud, still got un wanted distortion. I could not achieve any clean tones near what you are getting in this video. I was using a Matchless SC 30 set as clean as it could be. Used two different Torpedo's still no good results. WTF did i do wrong ??

Of course you can! However the 'visual' aspect of moving mics and cabs is awesome. You can easily use the scroll and encoder knobs if you don't want to use the GUI.

Man, you're demo-ing an 800USD recording device and give us the sound of the camera? I can hear the strings, the room, your breathing etc, what is the point of this? No offense
@JustinBryantdotcom
@JustinBryantdotcom 7 жыл бұрын
Michael- A) this was my first video. B) the control room was huge and the audio needed to be brought up from the camera mic ( compression). However, on this clip there shouldn't be any string noise, as the clips are DI"d and ducked out of the camera mic. Thanks for watching though and the feedback.
@michaelkupfer3723
@michaelkupfer3723 7 жыл бұрын
Justin Bryant It's ok, as I said, no offense, we all make mistakes and learn from them. Maybe not string noise, but I can clearly hear the strings AND, more importantly, the camera setting the level up and down/compressing. But it's all good. I'd more interested to hear if you are still using this device?
