I’m having so much frustration with laying my papers down without bubbling. I’m using Liquitex matte medium on top as I go but when I smooth the bubbles out I’m lifting color! Thoughts?

That’s bizarre, to me. Painting without gesso-ing? I’ve always gesso’d my canvas. Always 3 layers. Sanding between layers to using a spatula & a pallet knife

I’m surprised the screw didn’t split the centre aisles when u screwed it. Isn’t it safer to predrill a hole in that before screwing it in?

Thank you! I'm fairly new to painting I've mainly done graphite drawings and recently started dabbling in acrylics I've wondered why my paints never go on smoothly and this is why! I'm currently designing a 36×48 paint by number for my wedding guests to work on instead of having a guest book

It seems simple, but there is a lot of practice behind it. Great works, great paintings. You are very humble kind man and teacher. There are few such humble but talented people these days; this is, what should be taught. Thank you for sharing, so in retrospect 👍💯

Working from one center with three staples, going to the opposite end and stretching that center with three more staples. Now do the same process on each of the sides of the frame. Now start over again with the first side you started and put three more staples. Now go to the opposite side again, stretch and do the same thing. Now do the sides again. Do it all in the same order, working left and right, left and right, back and fort, back and forth as you work each side. The goal is to force the lack of the canvas into the corners evenly. It helps keep the canvas absolutely the same flat on all areas. I do like the way he made the frame. It's tough making perfect corners when it's just straight two flat ends connecting together. Good technique. Would be good also to check it with a corner square.
