Glad you addressed this! If we still practiced this in the same way, would we exclude anyone from the table? Notice, on the very night he was betrayed, it doesn't tell us that Jesus excluded anyone even though He knew Peter would deny Him, Judas would betray Him, and the disciples would scater, they still say at the table and took the “elements” together. The problem was division. The call and invitation was for unity and partaking together and in proportion (hence the comment about over drinking to the point of getting drunk or overeating which was implied by asking them to eat at home).

My practice, for the times I do lead communion - and how I instruct my students - is to not exclude or "fence the table." What I try to do is be very clear on the purpose and the inherent proclamation which communion makes when we partake. In other words, I want with my explanation of communion, for non-believers to consciously self-exclude, or to enter in full-well knowing that they are "proclaiming the Lord's death until he comes (1 Cor 11:26)

I thought the Luke genealogy was for Mary because they used to put the man's name as women weren't acknowledged so they put Joseph's name instead of Mary's.

Amen. This is my conviction also. I'd love to be part of a church that celebrates the Lord's supper as a genuine meal. How much richer and edifying could it be this way as a true time of fellowship. And it's just hitting me now as I write that the Lord's supper might be a foreshadowing of the meal we will share with Jesus in his kingdom.

The answer to the question why there are two different genealogies of Jesus is that there were two different Jesus children (as well as two Josephs and Marys). Compare Matthew and Luke more thoroughly and you will realize there are many more differences. Pretty much all of them can be explained by this answer. More elaborate explanation can be found in the lectures of Rudolf Steiner on the Luke's gospel.

So that's how you get the one born before 4 BC and the other after 6AD. They was 2 different babies... Makes sense. What else is wrong about the bible?
@elestir
@elestir 3 ай бұрын
@@defenestratefalsehoods They got born only several months apart from each other, not years. One of them in their house in Betlehem before Herod has died (and thus the family had to escape to Egypt), the second one in the manger in Betlehem after Herod's death (that family returned to their home town of Nazareth after). But this does not make Bible wrong. It only makes some of our interpretations of it wrong. Matthew and Luke simply describe different families when talking about nativity of Jesus.
@defenestratefalsehoods
@defenestratefalsehoods 3 ай бұрын
@@elestir it was more then 7 months. try 10 years. When you match the bible to known history it always fail. Matthew 2, says Jesus was conceived during the reign of Herod and was a young child when mary and Joseph fled the country. Herod died in 4 BC. In Luke 2 after Quirinius became governor of Syria in 6 AD(actual history that can be proven) mary and Joseph went back for the census while she was pregnant. Jesus was born before 4BC and still in the womb for the census in 6 AD. That would make the bible wrong because the story of jesus was suppose to be about 1 person not 2.

Matthew & Luke' geneologies do not conflict. They are different because they are the geneologies of 2 different people; Mary & Joseph. The genealogical list in Matthew, from David to Jacob-Heli, spanning about 1000 years, contains 27 generations at 40 years each, so as to comply with the 40 year royal generational standard. Luke, on the other hand, gives 40 generations at a more comprehensible 25 years each. They both descend from David to Zerubbabel. Matthew: 27 generations of 40 years from Solomon. Patriarchal--Zerubbabel's father's line. Luke: 40 generations of 25 years from Nathan. Matriarchal--Zerubbabel's mother's line. They diverge from Zerubbabel's sons; Abiud & Rhesa. Matthew goes from Abiud-- Mary's line. Luke goes from Rhesa--Joseph's line. Mary & Joseph were also related. Joseph was Mary's great-aunt Gadat's son. Also, Joseph's father's name was Heli. He was the Jacob Patriarch, so his title was 'Jacob'. Hence, Jacob-Heli.

I think we should also see the part where that the communion could lead to damnation. So i believe this is to do with being worthy. If JESUS came to die for sinners so they might receive forgiveness through repentance then how could sinners still live in sin and do communion? That is like crucifying the LORD of glory afresh and it should not be done so. And of course the over eating is not condoned here and can lead to damnation. See here and notify the damnation part and the sick and weak parts and the sleep (referring to death) part: 1 corinthians 11: 24 And when HE had given thanks, HE brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is MY body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of ME. 25 After the same manner also HE took the cup, when HE had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in MY blood: this do all of you, as often as all of you drink it, in remembrance of ME. 26 For as often as all of you eat this bread, and drink this cup, all of you do show The Lord's death till HE comes. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of The Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of The Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning The Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of The Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 33 Wherefore, my brethren, when all of you come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that all of you come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come. So i'm saying we should maybe look at communion in a more fearful way as to remember that this is a HOLY communion which is meant for rememberence and proclamation of JESUS CHRIST🙂 Let's also examine the word examine and put this in mind with this 1 cor 11 scripture: 2Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether all of you be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know all of you not your own selves, how that JESUS CHRIST is in you, except all of you be reprobates? Bless you with the goodness of GOD Shalom

So why do the bible anyone who drink unworthy drink condemnation to himself, and even more you consider Judas right after Judas take the communion and he wake and go deliver the Lord to the Jews , and even chapters before that Paul said do not even sit down to eat with a believer that commit sexual immorality right ?so imagine taking the Lord with a person and you know are you both not in sin or bring condemnation on you?

Frankly, this song sucks: Although the tune is catchy, it’s too fast for listeners to learn anything, even when you play it at half-speed. Also, the song could use more repetition to help listeners memorize the material. I enjoy Mr. Zacharias’ software for learning Greek, but whoever wrote this song needs to listen to a few dozen episodes of “Schoolhouse Rock” to learn how how to design songs to be educational.

wrong, ancient royal bloodlines do not tell a "story". That's preposterous. Jews were extraordinary meticulous about keeping their blood lines for inheritance. and these 2 lists entire purpose was to convince the Jews who the Messiah was, but they immediately rejected it, because the lists are totally made up.

I am getting this app for Greek class with Dr. Jason Peters (I think you Might know him). I wanted to know if this FlashGreekPRO Greek Flashcards app purchase can be used across two devices (both android) or only on the original device? If it is only one device, I need to figure out if I use it on my phone or the tablet I use for most of my seminary classes. Additionally, in one of the comments, you said this is in Erasmian pronunciation. We are using Dana Harris's "An Introduction to Biblical Greek Grammer" Are your flashcards for this material in Erasmian or Koine? Thank you for the assistance.
