I've been reading about driveshaft alignment issues after getting a lift over 3". Does your van get the hum or vibration from the driveshaft at 60 mph? I've been seriously considering getting a weld tech now that we are getting deeper into the back woods. You would love mobbing through some of these roads we've encountered. I just noticed on your rear leafs you still ride the originals? So you just got the weld tech kit without the rear leafs? I have to get the full front and back with the weight we are pulling.

I only heard from 1 person who said they got drive shaft vibration after lift. I know 1 person who has the Weldtec rear leaf. I just got the rear lift block. Weldtec is expensive AF. Rear progressive springs add $1500 to the price of the kit and $500 to the price of the install. $7000 for the " Complete" package installed was too much coin for me so I just opted for the rear blocks. If you do decide to go with Weldtec ask them is there anyway they can retain the sway bar. I think it's bush league they remove the sway bar from their lift kits and other companies keep it but Weldtec retains the sway bar on RV lifts. Tells me they know RVs need a sway bar but willing to sacrifice a little safety to advertise their lift kit as best articulation so they ditch the sway bar. Sway bar is put in place to reduce body roll and improve control. Really dumb decision to ditch it. I know you're al about ride and safety of your rig so you will do research on sway bars. A lot of people and I will do this in the future is to add a rear sway bar. I will also see if the other lift kit companies can provide me the proper bracket's I'll need to add a sway bar to mt WTD kit.

After watching your videos for awhile, I was wondering how much actual lift did you get after the 5” lift kit from weldtech did you actually get? I’m talking about from your lowest point (originally). Usually these point would be your differential as well as your crossmembers upfront. I imagine the new tire size also lifted the lowest points.

Since the Econoline front is so stumpy the engine is above the I-Beams so you're bouncing rocks off the I-Beam before youre touching anything on the Engine. The diff is the lowest point then the next lowest point is the oil pan but it's still pretty high up there. I'd just want a skid plate to be extra safe.

@@JohnDrivesAnything those are my sentiments exactly. Asking questions since I’m considering upgrading my stock 2002 E-250(long bed). As far as lift kits are concerned, I’m still torn between weldtec and AVS. Money is not really an issue but rather quality and best ride is my priority. Don’t want to feel like “I should have gone with the other one”. I do like the weldtec rear leaf springs and I might do a combo of both. Since you had both, what is your overall experience (cost excluded)? Btw, I live in the Los Angeles area so I can easily visit both shops.

I got my Action Van Lift kit 12 years ago and back then I wasn't as into the van hobby as I am now. After having had the Weldtec lift for 4 years and making friends in this hobby with both Action Van and Weldtec lifts I have been really exposed to this hobby now I will confidently say Weldtec has no Edge over Action Van. I recommend the Action Van Performance Kit that cost $2089 because it's such a bargain. The price gap increases if you go install vs install and a lot of people go with Action Vans cheapest kit because money is tight and Action Van has the edge in lift height vs Weldtec. If money isn't an issue I would honestly go with Action Vans Ultimate Suspension. It keeps the sway bar and includes a steering stabilizer and still checks in $300 cheaper then Weldtec. Weldtecs 5" lift doesn't include a stabilizer and ditches the sway bar. I hate how Weldtec ditches the sway bar. They include the Sway bar in RV lift kits. The van doesn't feel unsafe with no sway bar but I think with a big vehicle shaped like a brick every bit of a safety feature is much appreciated and Weldtec probably knows this that's why they play it smart and include a say bar in the RVs. They can get away with it in a van but I think it' still a big loss If you like the trophy truck front end look Weldtec does look cool. They have a killer Radius arm but I think it sucks that they have this killer radius arm but went with a double donut rear bushing. Even Ford upgraded to a pivot radius arm on these vans in 2010 stock. Weldtecs excuse for going with a bushing Vs pivot is to keep the price of their kit down. They are advertising the best kit and it's already the most expensive so I think they should of went all out and paired their radius arm with a pivot. Action Vans base kit uses a modified Ford Radius Arm with bushing and you can also choose to upgrade for $300 if you wan't a 2010 Arm with pivot. The Ultimate Kit has a custom radius that looks like a Weldtec. If you aren't Familiar with Camburg they use the lift these vans and they have a Custom radius arm that also looks like Weldtec. The difference is Action Vans Ultimate Radius Arm and Camburgs radius arm has a Pivot and not simple bushings I will elaborate on this more in future videos Skip to :52 seconds. This is just going over speed bumps and see how much movement is in the rear of the radius arm? I filmed this because no one has done this yet and I wanted to see how much movement is back there kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n814hbdpsZjJZ2g.html Action Van makes rear springs. Their Website is just in the stone ages and they don't advertise it. I would give them a call. The guy that owns Fulltilt/Action Van is pure class. Weldtec has about a 3 month wait time from what my friends told me and some actually went to Action Van because they just wanted a lift. So study that Ultimate kit man. You aren't getting a lower quality product with Action Van. If you want a Softer Ride you can Add Fox Shocks to the Ultimate Kit and it will be the same price as Weldtec but you have a Stabilizer and Sway bar and a Better RAdius Arm

I push the 2wd Lifted van life style and always plug Action Van because their kit is $2089. It's funntybecause Quigley/ Sportsmobile guys ignore me when I try to say hi when I do see them in the wild they are either not true enthusaists or I'm a peon with 2wd lol. It feels like the 2wd lifted guys are more fanatical about vans then the guys with major builds so I relate with this demographic more. My buddy in Florida got a Action Van lift kit sent to him and it was $2800 shipped with steering stabilizer. Weldtec quoted him at $4700 no steering stabilizer. Both lift kits are very high quality I have had both and that being said I tell anyone who can afford a U-Joint to 100% go with it! But at $2800 that AV kit gives you that cool 4x4 look that anyone can afford. I know one guy who has a U-Joint who wants to participate in the Meets and would love to see what a 4x4 van can do! The Old Body Style Green van in this video is a 4x4 but we didn't do anything crazy. Just mostly a clearance obstacle camp spot. U-Joint is a whole different level then Action Van and Weldtec. It better be for $20K+ !

I am retired now and going on the road as a full-time nomad. Sold my new truck and trailer because I didn't like towing so I recently purchased a 2000 Ford E150 conversion van 4.6L 2V stay away from the 3V lots of problems, 195,000 miles new tires, rebuilt transmission, and new shocks, for $3500 runs and drives great. Wish I could have gotten an E250 or E350 but for the price am happy. I am doing complete maintenance. All hoses, belt, radiator, and water pump, needed front wheel bearings, all fluids, seat covers, and LED lighting, gutted the rear cargo area, and installed a full RV setup. My labor so parts is only around $4000. I already had a solar system and power banks along with all my camping equipment so that saved a lot. I should be ready to hit the road in about two more months. Everything is rebuildable so I will drive this van till I die. Thanks for the video, Mike, ASE Master Technician.

The fact you're a mechanic you will have all kinds of confidence in your van since you know how to maintain it. People who can do all the work themselves will save a lot of money! I have a buddy in Florida who installed a lift kit on his own so he saved at least $1000 right there! The Van lift kit companies in Southern Ca charge $1400 and $1700 for install. Good luck on your journey keep me updated man. I have friends who do this as a hobby camping road warriors and a couple of friends who full time.
