Watching this video multiple times, I think the word you're looking for is "purpose"; we all have a purpose in the roles that we take, no matter how small that role is, it is still a profound quality of life. At least that's how I interpret your perspective on the meaning of life.

Hello Mr. Bull. So glad my brother and his daughters from Texas were able to visit with you. You were kind enough to take a picture with my brother. What a great thrill that at least someone in my family could meet you! I hear they absolutely loved speaking with you. I am happy my brother showed me the HoKoiSai woodcut/lasercut.

Luckily, it wasn't so crowded, so we had chance to talk for a while (that's sometimes just not possible ...) Nice to have met them, and maybe we'll see you over here one day too!

Don’t you have any back pain or some muscle issues since you have to sit in that posture for long? Or you excercise regularly?
@seseragistudio19 күн бұрын
Our benches are all pretty ergonomic, although of course nobody back in the old days used such terminology. The carving bench sloped towards me, the printing bench slopes away. All very comfortabloe. And yeah, I exercise ... I swim a kilometer at a local fitness center every week-day morning, before starting work.

@@seseragistudio Thank you for the replied master. Because, I could see from video that not only the precious artworks have created but also the quality contents that makes me wonder that how much discipline would be taken from such a man to do all this. With respect🙏

I feel like they function like postcards, t shirts, signs, posters, badges, and trading cards at a gift shop. A lot of US National park merch, is probably an analog. They feel like tourist, traveler, and collector merch. It's evidence that someone went on the travel or a memory from the travel. There's also escapism in it of course. Honestly, if you look at all the ideas that have come out of Japan in terms of art and products, wood blocks definitely feel like a major stepping stone.

I put myself to the very end of the waiting list only a few days ago (i.e. first day of summer 2024). When the time will come up to me, half a decade from now, I would like to obtain one copy printed from Dave's original block set - don't care how worn out the print may look then. And an additional copy from your younger carvers - to encourage their continuous efforts for the future! BTW: Damn the KZfaq algorithm for not suggesting this channel to me nine or ten years earlier!

A better analogy would be a TRIcycle rather than a tripod... . Take one wheel from a TRIcycle and it becomes a BIcycle. You're still able to get where u need to be. JS

The meaning of life took a big hit when Richard dockings route the selfish gene and also, through the discovery of many facts by evolutionary anthropologists and psychologists. Specifically, when it could be deducted with enough certainty that morality is an evolutionary result, We sort of lost faith in the fact that life would have on ulterior meaning. The existentialists, particularly Albert Camus, were pretty much on to it already. I find that perfecting some skill is my Sysiphus Temporary solution to this problem. I am not so sure what the solution would be for large numbers of People.

Hi Dave! I waited all the way until the end to comment, but I wanted to say what an eye opening journey that was to watch! I was very lucky to have seen a couple Instagram posts about classic artists such as Hasui, Hiroshige, Yoshida, etc., and decided to search Google more thoroughly. I'm so grateful the video listings showed your YT channel (I started yesterday night btw lol) Not only do you have a perfect storytelling voice, but the caring attention to quality detail and research you did on this project was nothing short of mesmerizing! This series reminded me very much of the philosophy behind Kintsugi, that even experiencing failures and setbacks can be mended into something so beautiful. I hope one day I can try this art style out myself, and just know I will sing your praises to anyone asking me how or why I started for as long as I am able to <3 Much love from the states!

So it has been that long ... What can I say ... I'm struggling with this on a daily basis, trying to get out from under all the 'fire-fighting', and get back to a sensible schedule of content creation. The list of topics waiting for treatment is as long as my arm. Would it have been better if our business had not become so successful? Due mostly to the KZfaq content! What a paradox ...

Wow so david doesn't even consider a spiritual aspect of life at all? Wont even discuss it for the sake of debate? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to sum up existence as nothing more than an accident of physics and nature is quite the philosophy of despair and ignores a facet of consciousness present in billions of human beings.
@seseragistudio2 ай бұрын
Each to his own, sir! For me, it wasn't an 'accident' of physics and nature that brought us here, it was a 'process' of physics and nature ... all completely natural and normal. I myself see nothing 'spiritual' in all this!
