video games peaked shortly after these kinds of games, and then took a nosedive when i was in highschool. now i think people play them because they dont know what else to do with themselves. now indi games are where it's at. those developers are the ones who "get it"

I really like the Castle Treasury theme. To me, it perfectly captures the feel of, "I'm stumped by this puzzle of a level, and have been running around for a couple hours now looking for the next switch dangit!"

Played this at my friends’ houses growing up but never owned a 64 myself. Just found it at one of my local shops and my roommate has a 64 so I bought it and have have been grinding levels after work. Such a blast!

I still have this on n64. But due to my memory card not working you cab't save any files. Yesterday I played the entire game in one setting. Took me 9 hrs! Childhood memories! I love the ps2 Dark Legacy. But this music was the best!

Holy fucking shit, me and my best friend would play this all the time. It really sucked because we didn't have a memory card for the N64 so we would all night it trying to beat it in one go. Never once did we..hah

I loved making it to the battlefield trenches to unlock sumner, and then having to beat Skorn twice. so tricky and fun.

It's a damn shame no one never continued this series in this style but with completely new levels. Legends/Dark Legacy were easily the best games in the whole series. That stark shift in direction, tone and eventually pre-order/DLC culture really killed the series. It'd be awesome to have them go back to these kinds of Gauntlet games.

Nail on the head. Two fantastic games that the franchise has yet to match in quality. So sad, because this is an ip that could easily be expanded upon in this style.

@@cassandra1819 baldurs gate: dark alliance/2 on ps2, not the new one....bless their hearts they tried but it was just nowhere as good as the older games.
